Phoned Hein Gericke store (York) yesterday for some prices of stuff.
Asked about helmets and was told for the Nolan N90 they have a try before you buy thing going on. Not sure if it includes other helmets, hopefully it does.

Basically they have S/M/L helmets to try. Leave your credit card/money and go for a ride to try the helmet for comfort, noise, etc.

About time somebody did this because helmets aren't cheap and it's a pain when you find it's not quite right. Even when you've done the right things and try to wear it for half and hour (and getting those strange looks) in the shop.

I spent near £400 on an arai chaser nearly 2 years ago, its a perfect fit in every way, but it has one thing that lets it down big time for me, and that is that it blows air directly over my eye balls.

As a contact lense wearer this usually leaves me blind in one or both eyes after not much time (contacts dry up and stop moving freely over the surface of the eye, very hard to ride 1 eyed when your used to 2! hard to judge distance and space etc)

took a chance on a replacement hjc after i hit my head and its perfect, that road test jobby would have had that sorted from the off Thumbs Up

I think it's a great idea. It's one thing wandering round the shop like an idiot wearing it, but it's entirely something else actually going out and trying it at speed.

I can't see many places doing it though, or with many different helmets. I can't see Hein Gericke allowing you to disappear with a £400 Arai, surely they'd only do it with cheaper ones.

The other question is whether you'd get an accurate fit from a shop loan one? If other people have tried it the interior will end up in all sorts of bizarre shapes.

My Condor does the same to my right eye! I always look like i am shedding a tear while riding my bike! Laughing

Also, i think triumph are doing a recycle thing, take your old (only branded) helmet in and they'll give you money off a new one, works with most bike gear, but same for same, jacket for jacket, leathers for leathers etc.. Very Happy

anyone used the carbon marushin lid? fitted me nicely but wondering about noise etc
