Intelligence is the ability and rate at which a person is able to learn.
If the persons memory is trash like mine, and they use spell check all the time they won't be able to remember how to spell.

Clever, from a persons knowledge base is having or showing the ability to learn, understand things form different abstract and realistic perspectives, and the way in which a person can cross reference knowledge to produce say for example coherent conclusion and axioms!

Smart, showing mental alertness, calculation and resourcefulness.

I like to think i'm fairly clever, not too intelligent and not very smart.
IQ is between 130 and 140, I know i'm definately not smart though!

I would generally say that people don't like to watch TV involving people with an IQ lower than their own (unless it's porn), for a large portion of the population that rules out Big Brother, Celebrity Get Me Out of Love Island etc..
