A danger Im always aware of is being stopped at a r/bout, being hit by an unobsevant driver in a rush to get somewhere. I always do my best to not be stopped at r/bouts or tuck to the side a little or anything I cant think of to make sure theyve seen me like sometimes if a cars is waiting at a side road to come out I stand on my pegs to attract there attention. I dont give a f**k what they may think as long as Im noticed.
I reckon we could all learn from other riders bringing up their riding pet hates especially if we hadnt thought of it so come on lets hear them. Thumbs Up Very Happy Thumbs Up

You have started a thread a about pet hates then go on to talk about potential hazards which are seemingly unrelated? Also i dont see how telling you about my pet hates on the road (all of which have been discussed to death anyway) will make anything/anyone any safer?

I am basically confused and fail to see an actual point to this thread Confused

People not pulling over just a tad to let bikers through. Take the other day for example;

Car doing 20 in a 30 up a cliff hill one way street, Overtook the bugger in between the wall and car with possibly less than a foot on both sides to get through, Almost in the gutter, had to ride through a couple of small branches to get through, but I did.

Maybe it was a silly decision, and it could have been nasty, but after waiting behind this fool for a couple of minutes, you see red don't you? Confused

1. Car drivers that stop at roundabouts when there is nothing coming!!!!! - There is no need!!!!!

2. Car drivers that don't indicate

3. Car drivers that try to overtake in a 30/40 and you're doing the speed limit.

4. Going down the gears, when coming to a juntion/roundabout and it pops into neutral. Then trying to pull away Doh!

5. The inevitable kill switch moment....

6. Getting all your gear on just before your ride and then needing a piss

7. Letting out the clutch when you've come to a stop and it's not in neutral

I guess 1-3 are my only real pet hates and the rest are just little niggles that annoy me really. No.1 is probably my only real pet hate when riding. Seriously I really hate it when approaching a roundabout, looking, seeing that there is nothing on the roundabout and the person in front stops. I end up swearing really loud at them.

Some people really don't have any common sense at all.

My pet hates are

People who overtake and then slow down in front of you. I've no problem getting overtaken but if your going to pull back in front of me make sure your at least matching my speed!

People that cant read the road especially at Fratton Bridge roundabout in portsmouth.

People that drive along at 20mph in a 40 zone and 30 in a NSL zone.

Drivers (and motorcyclists) that must overtake at all costs, then either :

A - Cant go anywhere because they are in solid traffic and block you from moving on

B - Pull in front then slow down to a slower speed than you were doing pre overtake.

I am aware of being lane dominant but it still happens to me sometimes on the A40 and A406 where its 3 lanes across, and I rarely go in the fast lane.

Oh yeah, people who overtake you, and fill the safety gap inbetween you and the car infront prior and then don't progress further.

Damn you, WTF was the point? Happens to me a fair bit.
