Just got a pair, find it really weird braking with two fingers? And the clutch is hard to use? Have I made a bad choice or are they easy to get used to?

Guy in shop recommended them for winter, are they really that good?

Im in two minds about taking back for a refund? Any ideas or input?

I only use two fingers to brake, but if it feels weird why don't you just use four Smile

I have had a pair for a few years now and really like them although they do look a bit crap.

I do try braking with two fingers, but it feels very odd.

Maybe having large hands makes it feel that way Very Happy

brake with 4 then?

They are warm, I did 90 minutes in the pissing rain this morning and fingers were just getting cold by the time I got to work. Didn't do a great deal for my feet mind, need some thermal boots!

I've just bought some lobster mitts as well, and they did feel quite weird for the first few trips. Soon got used to them though, and I'd rather be using 4 warm fingers than 2 cold ones.

Just got some HG ones myself. You do get used to them absolutely, I tend to clutch/brake with all 4 fingers. Bit fiddly going into pockets for my work pass to get in the car park though...

Not sure if it's me but I don't find them particularly warm (am i just being a pansy? first winter riding so hard to tell) Got some silk inner gloves though which make them toastier Thumbs Up

I'm seriously considering getting a pair of these Pathan gloves too.
I already have the habit of braking with two fingers rather than all 4, so I think they'll probably suit my riding style without too much difficulty..

VERY tempted to visit my local HG store on the weekend to try out the sizes, then order some online thru fleabay etc Wink

I'm also looking at getting a pair of these,is there any reason why you are using two fingers instead of four?

I love mine. Had a >30mph lowside ten minutes after I got them, split the stitching in the base of the thumb. Has never been a problem as the waterproofing held.

Long rides, hour and half to two hours I find a pair of latex gloves underneath helps with the handwarmth - but that is in the depths of winter and by that time I am trying to keep my knees off of my petrol tank.

Made a dramatic difference to the safety of my riding. Mine are now five years old.

I brake clutch with four fingers. Thoroughly recomend them if you intend to ride in the winter.

Four finger braking is a lot better and reduces your stopping distance IMO.

Anyway my boss had a pair and he said on very windy days, and on his 8 mile commute, he felt the cold, but they are better than normal gloves.

He has muffs now which is a lot better for the wind and cold.

The feel of them improves with time - you'll get used to it.

As for them being any good, no - they're shit.

I don't want my hands to get even slightly wet or cold and these gloves do fuck all against both. All gloves are shit, heated grips and muffs are the only way.

I could ride my gixer with them no bother last year but tried riding with them on the zx9 a few weeks back and kept completely fumbling the clutch lever. Think it is because the biting point is right at the end of travel and was finding gloves hard to release that final bit gently.

Threw them in the back of the cupboard in a huff after that day but might give them another go when the weather gets colder still! Or could get some adjustable levers or fit new clutch plates i suppose...

I would recommend them.
Used a pair riding into work this morning.
Have used them for the last 2 or is it 3 winters.
I have only had to resort to a pair of silk liners once in that time (it was actually snowing).

They do take some getting used to.
I'd say after 3 or 4 rides they should be ok.

I'd say stick with them, the rewards far outweigh any hassles.

Thumbs Up

These gloves + heated grips + Hand Guards = toasty hands whatever the weather.
