Quick question: restrictor

As much as it pains me to do this but I have about 2 months left on my restriction and I'm a bit paranoid. So the B1 uses a restricted ECU right? Will it mess up the power commander?

PCIII could invalidate the restriction anyway.

Can't find out online whether it's ECU or not, although I wouldn't have thought so.

You could bodge up some kind of throttle stop. That would be the easiest thing to do.

Other option is just to get a 33bhp map for the power commander. They are arround. Then load that on.

Insurance are asking for proof of restriction so I need something, don't really want to do it but...

At work they said the kit costs £180 I'd get it a bit cheaper but no way I'm paying that much for a throttle stop and piece of paper

There's no standard in the law for a certificate of restriction, what it should look like and what it should include. send them a piece of paper with "(reg plate) is restricted to <25kw of power" written on it. it's just as useful as an expensive "certificate"

As far as I understand, you are under no obligation to prove your bike is restricted. They're under more obligation to prove that it isn't

I'm going to restrict it anyway. It's only 2 months of crappy winter weather anyway!

The way I see it is it's better to have 2 months of 33bhp and then freedom rather than a ban, good bye new bike and have to do my test all over again.

I'll phone the insurance company tomorrow in terms of the 'proof' they're on about

'restrict' it, dyno it to show 33hp and send it off to the insurers.. worked in the past... better than paying F1 for a kit...

There's pretty much no chance of you getting caught unless you wrap it, and your license would probably be the least of your worries.

Do not waste your money. My insurer asked for a restriction certificate. I told them no and they still insured me.

hello old chap.

when I was in my first two years I never had my cbr restricted.

I did how ever, received 2 bans.

one for averaging over 110mph over a mile with a couple of other naughty things involved.

the 2nd I raced a copper without realising. turns out they top out at 137mph...anyway he mentioned restrictors and i said tgat i had just changed engines and was testing the bike but i did not know how it was restricted.
i got banned again but not directly from not being restricted just from being a tit!

neither time i had to retake my test and i already had 3 points.
