Just stripped, cleaned, changed a couple of float needles in my carbs. But now when you turn the bike over it runs a little, and fuel is leaking out of the air cleaner side of the carbs.

Its quite a lot of fuel and it doesn't stop when the engine is turned off. Could it be a faulty vac tap, or is it more likely something wrong with floats?

Make sure the fuel tap is on or reserve and not prime. Might be diaphragms or floats set to high.

Will be both - obv. the fuel is leaking past the vacuum tap and then leaking past the float valves. If I remember right you can't connect the vacuum tube and fuel lines up wrongly on those bikes, so that eliminates that particular howler.
