i'm waiting on delivery of my new rs50 tuono, in my impatience i've been searching the net for reviews, nothing has turned up.

has anyone ridden one? or owned one?

i know it is essentially a rs50 but with fairing revisions and riding position changes.

having ridden an rs50 and finding it uncomfortable i went for the tuono because of its higher bars and more upright position which i found much more comfortable.

has anyone else lived with one who can give me ownership tips?

or even any rs50 riders?

No help with owning one, but I presume you are 17 or older because you had a car?

If so, doy you mind me asking why you went for the 50cc?

It looks like a nice bike as i wanted to get a Tuono 50. Basically same running gear as current RS50's but has a catalyser in them so will just manage 50 when deristricted. They look pretty cool, but why didn't you get a 2nd hand scoot instead? It works out much cheaper in the end.

without sounding like a nob, i'm not the average 16 yr old,

long story with the nova etc...family tuning business to cut it short...

didn't want a second hand one because i couldn't find a nice example and with insurance it worked out roughly the same for a shagged one as a new one (got a good deal on insurance with aprilia)

**it did sound like a nob above**

Hi

Only experience with an RS50 is the one a neighbour owns which I have fixed a few times. When he bought it I rode it the 27 miles home for him.

I managed about 55 out of that on flat ground. Possibly a bit more to come, but I did not push it as hard as I could (it was embarressingly loud).

They seem basically reliable engine wise as long as you do not do anything silly to them. Fairing screws seem to vibrate out on a regular basis. The choke is a pain to get at. The chain and sprocket last no time at all if they are not adjusted and lubricated regularly Laughing .

The tacho drive on them is meant to fail quite often (had to replace it on this one).

All the best

Keith

will prob be 'uprating as it wears'

as long as there are decently reliable, what are parts availability like for them?

Parts seem fine really. Not had a problem.

He paid ~£750 for the RS50. Tatty, but then anything bought as a firt bike is likely to be tatty after a short while.

All the best

Keith

My tacho drive failed a couple of times, gave up in the end and had no rev counter. It will eat throttle cables and clutch cables too, mine had a big bore on it, and didnt last very long, (gearbox).

Older bikes seem to be really unreliable, havent heard anything bad about the newer ones though.
