Or something to that effect.... Catchey line someone should write a song about that...

I have a pair of Black Sidi's that have a thin sole like most biking boots. Problem is though, I am a ATGATT type of person, so I wear these things even when I am just popping into town. Suffice to say after 5-6 months of daily use, they are wearing through. I thought I would grab a pair of less thin soled boots. I had a look in Infinity motorbikes yesterday and I found nearly all their boots have thin soles. Guessing its just a thing with motorbike boots than. Doesn't help though when good boots are £150+ though aye?

Anyone know any biking boots with a thick or durable sole that are good for daily use?

Only ones I can think of are ones I had when I was on the cruiser style 125. They are still in mint condition today even though they have been worn to buggery thoughout last winter. I still wear them on the new bike because I wont pay for race style boots until I really need them because I'm a tight git.

These things are ugly and cheap but they are waterproof and with a pair of thick socks they keep the feetsies warm.

I use the standard issue army goretex boots and they've done the job nicely including a few crashes.

Have you seen the new issue goretex boots? They're about double the price and rather bulky, not sure I'm a fan of them yet.

I would guess not; my ones I got a couple of years ago and look pretty much exactly like the non-gore ones I got from Goose that must be quite some years old.

I had the same problem caused by stomping around CBT playgrounds day in, day out. They're not cheap but these

https://www.mickbyrne.co.uk/motorcycle-boots/tcx-boots/tcx-infinity-gore-tex-motorcycle-boots.html

are really durable (mine are two years old now), and 100% waterproof. And can apparently be resoled too though I haven't needed to do this yet.

Not speaking from personal experience but I saw a review of some Alpinestars Roam boots in this months Ride magazine. Says "the soles are chunky but really soft to walk on like a trainer". Looking at other reviews apparently they're really comfortable too.

I've been looking for something similar to you recently and thought these looked just about right for the job. They're £130 rrp, but there's plenty of new ones going on ebay for £90.

Thats a very smart idea.... I think my Sidi's are black rains... Meant to be £180ish, got them for £90 on sale. Cheap bum me. Smile Would be handy to just replace the sole / cover the sole.

Arco Chukkas. Good padded ankle areas, steel sole, steel toecap. Used them since about 2005 day in, day out, not just for motorcycling. Got through three pairs in that time, but I do use them for almost everything, work, driving, motorbiking, walking about town, walking cross country on birdwatching excursions. Very comfortable boots.

I have heard much good about Alt-Berg (especially how long they last and the custom-fit) and despite being a student i will be buying some.

Only downside is that i think you need to go to Richmond to get measured for the right size (please someone correct me if wrong), which is 6 hours from here Mad

Resoling should be a cheaper fix though (provided a better sole is used on the 2nd time around Wink)

I used these for over a year, 5 days a week worn for about 6 hours a day and they are barely showing signs of wear, highly recommended:
