Just woke up to hear my alarm going off on my bike...

I swear I've never seen 2 lads run so fast down the road!!!
Probably because I wasn't wearing anything when I yelled out my window.... Laughing

Really need to get a ground anchor/ chain at least, at the moment I've only got the steering lock and Datatool S4C4Yellow Alarm (horrible thing, always sets the alarm going, even after I've supposedly turned it off..... Any suggestions? I don't have much money, but obviously don't want to be a cheapskate and get something that will be ripped/ cut off in 2 minutes...

well anything can be delt with in 2 seconds, depends how much they want it, but it does cound like you could do with a ruddy great chain, even without the ground anchor its a pretty strong deterent on top of your other security stuff.

A similar thing happened to me a few nights ago. I ran outside with a scaffolding pole getting ready to knock the fuck out of someone.

Turns out it was just the bad connection at the seat that was what set if off.

At least you actually had people to scare off. Embarassed

Get a disclock and a cheap chain for the moment and then save and get an almax.

Meh not much you can do, even the hugely fabled almax/squire cs combination is vulnerable.

The mul-t-lock mechanism used on these high level locks (and now more commonly on all locks) can be picked in under a minute if youtube is to be believed with picks or bump keys.

Which looks more suspicious? 42" croppers or a hand held picking tool being used in the same way a key would.

Defend from the opportunist thief but there is naff all you can do against proper organised theft.

Sadly I have to agree with bloke, if someone wants it badly enough...........

Many years ago I was witness to a bike theft and the bike was gone before I actually registered what happened.
A man walked up to an FJ1200, slid a slide hammer out of his coat, pulled the ignition barrel and started and rode off the bike within 10seconds.

You just have to make it as difficult as you can for the thief. My bikes are garaged and locked, but the landrover against the garage door and the big 'unfriendly' German Shepherd I own are probably my best deterents Thumbs Up

Chances are if you bought a bigger, heavier bike they wouldn't want to touch it - as it stands, it's a simpy wee, underpowered 125 which will be easy to steal and set fire to once they're bored with it.

Still planning on spending £600 on tat for it? I'd perhaps reconsider after that little experience.

You could drill a couple of these in the wall/concrete floor and fix a scaffold tube through it,then fix tube in place with something, like scaff fittings or weld. Then round or cut off threads so can't be undone.

https://www.scaffoldingsupplies.co.uk/products/details/1652.html

Regards Scezy

ps if you are local to Grimsby i can get you all the gear you need for nothing.

Just googled Grimsby... roughly 280 miles from me... so maybe not, but I'm sure I can find some around here, now I have a Idea.

I bought a MINT 1998 ZX6R last week for £830. On eBay.

It might be old but it has new tyres, new braided lines, new rear shock, new C&S and MOT & Tax until late next year. If you ain't fussed about what year of 600, then bargains can be had. I bet your CBR would probably fetch more money than £830!

That aint no way to tackle this, two things, the first being not everyone has loads of dosh which is hard to understand to them who always have had, secondly and more important, he may love his little bike and doesnt want to give it up because you dont think its worth it, the challenge here is to secure his bike and not let the robbing scum win, alarm it might be an opion

I was in the city centre yesterday and there was these 2 lads, the older one must have been 8-10 and the younger 7-9. The older one was playing on the bike messing with the throttle, doing things you like to do bikes when you're younger. The other kid was looking around a bit sheepishly. Knowing that I wouldn't want some chavvy little scrotes messing with my bike I went over and said,

"Oi, that isn't your bike is it."

The younger kid looked a bit scared and the older one stopped playing the bike. So we carried on walking only to hear one of the nob shites yelling,

"Waannnker."

He was 10 at the oldest, at that age I would of run away scared not shouted wanker back.

Nob shites.

First point is invalid - read my above post.

Second point is alarm it? Laughing Alarms are useless. Secure it solidly to the ground and then they'll jsut fuck with it out of spite, because they can't nick it. They're less likely to do that with a 600 or larger cc machine if they're only small kids IMO.

As in the original post, there is an alarm already on it.

I'm only 21, and in alot of debt, so chances of buying a new bike are very slim until I get some of my debts paid off then buying a new bike is a no no.

£830??!! I wish I had that kinda of money, I could buy 2 bikes for that, or one nice enough one. I am overdrawn with my back by hundreds, owe £600 rent and have only got £1.20 to last me until next friday.

I'm living on such a tight budget that I have no money pretty much all the time.

I need a third job. or a better paying job. Neutral
