In my local Tescos earlier today, about to pay for petrol and on the counter they have some "Nutra Trim Gum" on offer for £1.

If you have loads of shopping, put all that through first, then when the 'bagging area' is nearly full, scan one of the crates through and put it on the bagging area. Now just put the 2nd one on the floor in a bag, infront of the bagging area.

Pretty much.

Ive never done it, but i have scanned stuff through before and its come up as somthing else, so when you stick the item in the bagging area, all hell breaks loose.

In that instance, the woman came over and just cancelled the item so it was never paid for, but still went home with me!

Very much off topic, but I hate it when people call it Tescos or ASDAs. Might as well say Morrisonses and Sainsburyses while you're at it.

Even more off topic. Nothing retailphonic annoys me more than that Somerfield (Somerfields to you OP) advert where the woman gets complimented on her dress and she says "Thanks, Nigel bought it me". Bought it you? What the actual fuck. Bought if FOR you. Jesus, why was that allowed on TV?

Anyway, don't pluralise shops... drink your milk and stay in school.

There has never been a 'correct' way of using any of its forms, just the current understanding. Languages are a complex adaptive system that will change as proven by evolutionary linguistics.

Sorry, I was referring to the store as "Tescos" because everyone who I have spoken to who has ever woked there has always said "I used to work in Tescos".

By saying "I used to work in Tesco", doesn't seem to sound right when said aloud. Thumbs Up

The reason I said don't need to was that I knew you were stubborn enough to reply. You're also stubborn enough to make a point by point rebuttal and never concede that the person you're arguing with could possibly be right on even a slight detail.
I don't think you come across as overly intelligent, just above average really which is where I see myself. In contrast though, I can never really be arsed arguing at length and will get bored half-way through.

In a previous thread I made a similar argument that YOU are making now about language, and while I know evolution of the English language is dynamic I have never denied that it still ANNOYS me and other people. Annoyance of course, does matter, although only slightly. Annoyance nags on the mind and cuts into productivity.
Ergo, on the point that it "matters", you ARE wrong. Had you said something along the lines of "You shouldn't let it bother you, like I don't" then you could've made a valid point. Not that you'll accept that of course. Wink

EDIT: To summarise; you can't argue with someone about how THEY feel on a subject.

And yet you see yourself as qualified to rate my intelligence? I may post a lot in random banter, but I read a lot more from the other sections, those that you more frequently post in.

The mere nature of random banter suggests that people aren't exactly pounding 100% of their mental capacity into the posts and comments they make. I know I don't. Maybe your appraisal of me is bollocks too?
