Anybody know if it's possible to get a contract with a phone for 12 months?
Everywhere i look the contracts are 18 or 24 months, and i know for a fact that a phone won't last me that long (not one of these fancy things any way) so i've been looking for a half decent 12 month contract for £20-£25 .
Anybody care to find me one?

There are loads. Just look on any major networks website....

The more valuable the phone, the longer/more expensive the contract.

Why not the longer contract and some good 3rd party phone insurance as and when appropriate (i.e. either immediately or when the warranty runs out depending on what you think is best). You can probably get a pretty comprehensive policy for less than half what the phone companies would charge you for doing it with them (£5/month or whatever).

Just an alternative option, not saying it's best.

BTW, 3 were still doing plenty of 12 month contracts as of a year ago.

Not sure it's much help - but i managed to get a brilliant deal out of T-Mobile, Free Phone (Nokia X6) 1000 Mins a month + unlimited texts + internet all for £8.50 a month, had to take an 18 month contract, but seems worth it !!

You'll stuggle to find a 12 month contract with a decent phone these days, especially if you want to get the phone for free. I work for Tmobile, and we dont do ANY 12 month contracts with phones. We only do 12 month contracts on Sim Only.

Your best bet is to purchase the phone outright then get the 12 month plan on a sim only contract.

Can you get me a decent 18 month contract?
And i would buy a phone outright but i can't really afford to buy a decent phone.

there are some awesome deals out there mate. But to be honest, whats the qualms with a 24 month contract?

Sure, you have to wait 2 years for your upgrade, but remember, your phone will be warrantied for the whole contract period. So if it develops a fault, it will be fixed.

Currently, you can get yourself a HTC Wildfire android phone for £20 monthly on 24, and £25 monthly on an 18.

300min
300txt
Unlimited Internet
Free Flexible booster (your choice of either unlimited texts, unlimited landline, unlimited Tmobile calls, 120 mins to US and Can, 60 min EU and Australasia).

You can get a Galaxy Apollo for the exact same price and tarriff as above, except you get 600mins and 500 texts.

go into your local store mate, and have a genuine shop around.

And a little advice, if your worried about phone lasting that long, get a blackberry. When you send a blackberry off to Tmobile, 9 out of 10 times, it comes back replaced with a new one. I send mine off every few months with fake faults to get a nice shiny new one Wink

Not a 12month but you get the offer to upgrade at 12months ish on a 18month contract, anyway.

I just got dolphin 15 from Orange, free Nokia N8, free internet to the house, 50minutes and unlimited texts. also bolted on for £5 a month 500mb internet a month and 10% off for renewing customer. from phones for you.

the nokia comes with a 24 month warranty on it and 12 months on battery and touch screen.

Even if you got a 'flahs phone' that wouldn't last you, you could ebay it and buy a cheap JCB phone or sony for £70 ~(what I did 2 years ago), flog the old one and use the money to make the contract free for a bit.

meh

Or, Spend £229 on an Iphone 4 16gb from tesco on a £35 per month 12 month Contract which gives 750mins, unlt texts, 1gb data and unlimited BT openzone Broadband.

That's a cracking deal.

I found a good offer on there, told P4U, they honoured it.. Thumbs Up

shame the phone is a piece of shit and has since packed up (nokia N8) cant get a new one until stock comes in on wed. Joy. Deep Joy.

If you're thinking about getting a nokia N8, google nokia n8 dies/dead/hanging and trawl the results... Sad

Vodafone I think still do 12 month contracts as vodafone business. The only difference I'm aware of is better customer service. When I bricked my old Nokia N96 I called them at 6pm, and there was a man on my doorstep with a new phone at 7am.

This time round I bought a nearly new HTC desire on ebay a few months ago for about £250, and took out a 12 month sim only contract with vodafone - got them down to £12.50 a month for 300 mins and all the internet I want. Probably some texts too, but it'll be a cold day in hell before I send more than 10 texts in a month.

That's because you would need friends to send text's too.

The sort you do send cost you a lot of money don't they? even 10 a month is an expensive habit.
