Onions have layers, bikers have layers!

Last year I made do with shoddy gear and just wore a few layers. Only recommendation I have is to make sure you get good gloves and boots, the rest is easy enough to keep warm.

Currently work nights. My gear consists of the following for my commute:

Top Half:
- Adidas Techfit t-shirt (thin wicking material t-shirt).
- Polo T-shirt
- Thin Jumper
- Textile Jacket
- Alpinestars Winter Balaclava
- HJC ZF-10 Helmet
- HG Pathan Gloves (+ silk inners for when it gets really cold)

Bottom Half:
- V.Thin thermal bottoms.
- Dickies multipocket combat trousers
- Textile bottoms
- Army surplus goretex boots


I'm still fucking cold at 6am on my journey home!

Haha, not really. I'm warm as hell. The only thing that lets me down is my textile gear. It's second hand (my dads old gear, but in 'decent' condition) and getting a bit tatty round the seams (armpits, velcro on the cuffs and top of the zip on the jacket) so the cold seeps in after a while..

yeah layers are good fair enough but if you find a really good textile jacket as i have twice you can get away with just a tshirt even in the coldest weather.

Dont forget that too many layers will restrict the circulation of warm air and will in effect make you colder.

Windproofing is the way forward!
