Is it just a case of upping the idling revs? If so, anyone know what it is I need to adjust?

Choke, or does it have an auto-choke? I never know with new bikes Laughing

Was in the process of writing out how to adjust the idle speed and then realised that the 6n is FI so it won't be the same.

Does sound like the choke isn't working though.

Yeah idle speed is adjusted by a screw protruding from the side of the carb. There should be a plastic handle type on the end.
If this does not solve the issue it could also be related to the throttle position sensor which has to be periodically checked.

Is there still an adjustment screw for FI bikes?

It does have FI - no manual choke.

It idles OK when first started, as if the electronics knows its cold. It used to be fine, but it's as if the electronics thinks the engine is warming faster than it is - it drops the revs before it's warm enough, meaning there's a window of a few minutes where it cuts out at traffic lights etc. Or perhaps it's switching off the choke too soon?

turn the idle screw up, FI bikes do have them! Well my SV650 def did have! Choke on FI is all controlled by the ECU management. It uses the coolant sensor to check whether the engine is cold or hot, just the same as cars

Normally FI engine idle is controlled by metering air to the inlet manifold/s. (Same effect an 'idle screw has on a carb engine.)

There should be an adjustment 'AFTER' the air filter magubbins.

It's a twin so will need a bit more RPMs than a four cylinder to maintain an even idle.

Check with the Tachometer (A device for measuring Mexican Snacks) and adjust till you get an even idle.

Might be around 1000-1100 RPM.

Google the idle RPM and aim for that.

If it's anything like a carb'd bike it will be a little black wheel on the end of a cable that you turn sticking out to one side. Either that or it will go directly up into where the carb's would be and you will have to reach your hand in behind the cylinders.

They usually are shiney black and kind of like a really smoothed off cog, about 1cm across.

Like that Italian racing driver:

Sorry not got a Scooby Doo.

Google:
Kawasaki ER6F Idle Adjustment

or

Kawasaki ER6F Idle Adjustment

(Same engine in both.)

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I thought I'd described how I solved this problem in case anyone ever searches the forum about something similar.

I read the manual! There's a screw can adjust just with your fingers, easy peasy.

That is all.
