Went to the cinema to see this, never seen so many people walk out of one film before, couldn't really blame them, the trailers didn't suggest for a single second that it was a musical, I had heard it was a musical a couple of days before so was kind of prepared for it....kind of... But Sweeney Todd took the fucking piss, I mean they barely got through 3 sentences without bursting into song, and the little kid got on my nerves as well, so yeah, proper bollocks.

Oliver! With Ron Moody is probably my favourite musical, not that I'm particularly fond of them, though I did watch Guys and Dolls in the west end starring Patrick swayze and Samantha Janus (whom I caught a glimpse of tits and gash, which is always a bonus).

Only musical I really enjoyed is Les Miserables.

Story about stealing a loaf of bread and everyone dies. Perfect!

What is it with being gay and loving musicals?!? Confused

I was about to watch it too, until I spotted it was a musical in the small print.

Musicals suck monkey balls. The suspension of disbelief required for most movies is enough without the characters breaking into song every five minutes.

Seems loads of people went to see it in the cinema when it was out not realising it was a musical. I would have been majorly pissed if I had just wasted the best part of £15 for me and the woman to watch that crap.

Anyone else go to see Cyrus expecting a comedy?

It was portrayed as a comedy.
The trailers suggested a comedy.
The synopsis specifically implied it was a comedy.

It was boring, 'arty' pile of shite.

No, this is from personal experience, honestly. The only people I know who actually like them are the missus, me mum and gay friends. I'm sure there are gay people who don't...but I don't know any. Very Happy

It could be that my straight friends are just too embarrassed to admit it to liking them, of course...

settled in cinema for a gorefest

and the little wanker on the boat starts SINGING!

I turn to gf in horror with the "face" of OH GOD NO!

I agree.

Bought it ages ago expecting it to be a Hollywood remake of the original, but it was fucking shite. I thought the opening scenes were maybe just some singing but it turns out the whole film is like that. Honestly, I did try and give it time - but it is absolute bollocks.

Have a look out for the BBC version of Sweeney Todd starring Ray Winstone - much better film.

It's not technically a musical is it..? Or is it...? I'd refer to it as a theatre production... maybe I'm wrong... Thinking

Tuned in to watch Sweeney Todd, watched for approach 3 minutes, then turned off. Not for me, not at all.

Opens with a song. Ends with another song. Only dialogue in the show is song too.

Definatly a musical

Damn... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long-running_musical_theatre_productions

and me and my Dad always thought we involved in different class to those typical musicals, when in fact we have just been seeing musicals...oh the horror of realisation...

It's his fault, he always called them theatre productions, and the things we didn't see were musicals... Laughing
