Ok, parody on the Wizzard track, but that's how I'm feeling!
https://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w269/teflons-torque/Little%20Dreams/imag1794.jpg
Thats our Snowtigeress, about an hour ago, astride 'the corporal', the bike I've been rebuilding along side her 'Pup-Project'. That one's been dragging a bit, as the initial imputus has started to wain, and 'for a hapeth' the standard its being built to, ramped.
But, The Corporal was never going to have such a demanding build, and I originally thought it was going to get little more than a motor-swap, having bought it taxed and tested, but with a dead engine. Took a BIT more than that, and its re-encarnation is blogged HERE, doesn't look much different:-
https://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w269/teflons-torque/Little%20Dreams/imag0768.jpg
I'd got as far as sorting the suspension brakes and steering, and got a working engine in it, and was detailing it out before throwing any paint at the shiney bits, when Snowie started grumbling about busses to and from college, so since it still had T&T on it, and in enormousely better condition than it was, I chucked the old body-work back on, and sorted some insurance for her, to give her something to ride, while the Pup's being finished.
So its been a double whammy! I saw the bike I've built, on the road, working, and Snowie in the saddle, grinning like a former labour priminister, asked about Weapons of Mass Destruction!
We got back, and I asked her how it felt, and her response?
"It dont 'Go'!"
Bludy women! They expect jam on it, dont they!
Actually, she's got a point. It needs some tinkering, it only managed about 55, but that's still faster than her old cruiser-thing!
https://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w269/teflons-torque/Little%20Dreams/100_0067.jpg
err... actually the corporal is about twenty years older than her 'old' cruiser, but that's a quirk of chronology!
However! It was her first time actually riding a CB125 'Super-Dream', and apart from the small niggle it dont do 90 miles an hour straight out the crate, thats ALL she had to moan about!
Brilliant to watch her, after what she looked like on the cruiser-thing, uncomfortable, unconfident, clumst, and wobbly..... intended to follow her to the end of the street, round the corner, then do a short three mile loop round the country roads on the edge of town, where the roads are pretty clear of snow and traffic....
No, in typical Snowie fasion, she turned right, instead of left at the end of the road, took me on a cooks tour of the outskirts of town, down some unclassified country roads, with twisty blind bends covered in ice and snow, and then back again!
Uncomfortable, unconfident and wobbly?............No!
Cold, wet, icy, a woman that tip-toed the cruiser about in the wet, becouse she was scared of it stepping out on her, and here she is, fish-tailing the back end of the Super-Dream trying to loose more power to the road than she's got traction for, grumbling it ent fast enough!
And I was worried that the slightly aged, budget commuter tyres might be a tad 'uninspiring' for her!
So, watch out folks, there's a Speeding Snowtigeress on the prowl!
And I am like glowing with pride at the pair of them! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Still glowing! & I'm fussing over it.
Just fitted a rack so she can carry the lock & chain & her school books, and faffing with a bit of hardboard to mount her Loonie Plates!

I have now!
I'm half crippled, & registered dissabled. I had to give up riding the 750 when I fell off it at the petrol station & couldn't pick it back up!
Hence my recent obscession with 'tiddlers'!
I got the DT, to get me back in the saddle again, 'cos its tall as well as light, so I can hold it up with my legs straight and knee locked, rather than on muscle I dont have any-more.
But snowies bludy Pup-Project sapped resorses from me doing anything with it this summer, but she's got no car or bike licence, so needs a bike for any kind of mobility.
DT's just a toy to me, I've got a car and my Landy to get me about, not that I have much great need, apart from popping to the shops! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

No! Dont YOU start!
I've got a crate of black paint under the stairs, where she planned to paint 'the-pup' black, before she decided to paint it purple instead..... I now have a crate of purple paint under the stairs..... her comment when she saw the pic was "Oh! The red matches my leathers! Can I paint the Pup Red, instead?"
Er... that's the colour 'The-Pup' started!
and the trouble with her and paint, is she puts it on, then when told to 'lightly flat it back and put another coat on' she sands it back to bare metal!
I cant afford any more bludy paint! lol!

I love the leaf-sprung Landies. There's something very 'connected' about driving one, you just don't get with the boingies, but for every-day use? They can be a pain to live with.
Rangie is as close as I've found to the universal motorcar. On gas it can be as cheap to run as a family hatch-back, but you got that lubberly V8 rumbling away under the bonnet, while its as refined inside as an exec saloon should be, but then you look out the window and your chugging up the side of a ruddy mountain, with mud and scree under your wheels!
SIII Lightweight with V8 conversion.... best of both-worlds I reckon!
Well, maybe not! still hugely impractical, and nowhere near as refined, but that engine can make you forgive an awful lot of failings!
| itsallgood wrote: | Anyway having read through some of the personal stuff, getting the bike on the road is an even bigger acheivement! |
lol! Its rather frustrating having it all in my head, but not being able to get my hands to do what I tell them! Yes it's been more of an achievement than I suppose I give it credit for. Personally I feel like I've cheated, becouse I haven't 'finished' it properly, (yet!) and its 'on the road' by dint of having a valid MOT & Tax from before I bought it.... I haven't had my handi-work pass muster as it were!
| itsallgood wrote: | Getting the DT on the road and doing a mini tour with the two bikes would be amazing fun! |
Snowie's never really been much out of Leicester, so there is an impetus to do a little 'tiddler-tour'!
When I had the VF on the road, I mean that thing just ate miles! With full hard-luggage, I'd get out of work at noon on a friday, and just point it in whatever direction took my fancy, and it would just take me somewhere. Eight hours in the saddle and I could be almost anywhere in the country, and only the fuel guage nudging the red and the sun-setting prompting me to pull over and find somewhere to stay the night.
But Ireland's calling Snowie.
I went over the water a couple of times in my teens, when my old man lived in Dublin, but never really explored much further a field, so its very tempting....
Not sure about the logistics of it, though!
Have to wait and see what bikes are knocking about and in or close to road-worthy condition, when as and when opportunity arises! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
