I think I have broken my big toe, following my crash it is alot bigger than it should be.

https://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs971.snc4/76436_471037138475_512803475_5598512_1923423_n.jpg

This was taken this morning and it is still the same size now 24 hours after the impact.

Any movement hurts, it hurts a lot. And I physically can not point it upwards. The underside of my foot is swollen too, walking is very difficult.

I'm going for an x ray tomorrow, what is likely to happen? anyone had it before? how long will I be laid up for? Is there any treatment?

Get yourself to A&E at some point.
Probably won't do anything even if it is broken, but worth doing none the less to my mind. Though, be careful, they may well tell you that you can't ride home.

As I seem to remember this was from a RTA, can't hurt having that on file either.

They may X-ray it or they may not, what they will do is absolutely nothing about it.
It is a toe, you have got lots of them and they tend to get broken so man up and ignore it.

Yeah it was an RTA I have a witness but was filtering knowing how much scum insurance are I would be happy to not bother claiming, I only need to replace a footpeg. I will get it on file incase the other guy changes his mind.

I just wanna know when I am going to be able to walk properly again. I've found walking sideways like a crab is less painful as it is less likely to involve accidental toe movement

I'd get that fixed or you'll never make it to Mordor Samwise.

Nah it's not broken, don't worry, both of your toes are exactly the same size. It's just the way you had your feet sitting it gave you the illusion that it was bigger.

If you do go to hospital, DON'T tell them it was an RTA. They'll send you a bill, as they assume you'll claim it back on your insurance. Tell them you did it playing football and accidentally kicked the goal post, or something.

Too late!

My friend who is a nurse took me in and I got sorted pretty well I doubt I'll get a bill he would have mentioned it. I came away with a set of crutches, painkillers and anti-inflamatories. A fractured toe, 2 weeks off of it. Xray to follow.
