OK, i suspect fuel delivery problems. On my cbr400 gullarm 1992, 45,000 km, about 27,000miles

For the past few weeks it has been idleing very badly, so much so that it'll cut out if the throttle is not held opened.

Last week at Ace, my bike took ages to start up from cold, as if no fuel was getting through, it just turned over. Eventually started, and ran fine home, and during the past week.

Now today, i was riding regularly, and it cut out. About 0.5 seconds before it did, i felt the rpm drop and consequently loose power.

I tried to turn the engine back on after this, but it just turned over, and didnt catch.

Chris89 and I tried jump starting it, (cheers Chris btw), and managed to get it statred twice by using this method. But it would not rev nicley at all. Non smooth pic-up, and didnt rev smoothly. In the end it (on both times) cut out by itself. Basically ran like bag o' bolts.

Now, i suspect fuel delivery problems, as a few months ago the electronic fuel pump had corroded contact points. A good clean up sorted this out.

Does my electronic fuel pump have a fuse?

And what can you suggest, in addition to what i'm going to do tomorrow.

Tomorrow i'm gonna take it all apart, drain tank, and check for rust/bits, check lines, check fuel pump, maybey open up the carbs bowls and check for blocked jets... They looked fine about 3000 miles ago, when i had one open.

Anything else?

Thank you, in advance.

Have you got the manual? All the fuel pump checks are in there. Also, if everything on the fuel side is ok check the carb diaphragms for damage. Last but not least, is it still sparking? I was working on my wifes cbr4 2 weeks ago which seemed to have a fuelling problem, turned out to be a dying CDi Thumbs Down

Hmmm interesting, seems like it could be a few problems. Sparks ok.

Ive done electrics today, and the circuit for the fuel pump seems ok, and the relay. Fuses all good.

I still recon it's fuel delivery problems. I'll let you people know if i need any help, with reguards to specific parts.

Yep i've got haynes.

tomorrow, im going to really get in there Smile .

Sort the little bitch out. Thumbs Up. Cheers Pete.
