I sometimes spend time on ebay just looking at bike which are close to me and I often see CBF125 bikes with next to no mileage and are pretty new going for around £1k-£1100ish!

I'v also seen CG's with more mileage and a bit old go for more money!

Maybe the CBF are not proven yet? I truly cannot understand why this is the case!

Nothing wrong, basic reliable transport.

Just people flogging cheap...although that sounds way too cheap.

The only thing I've seen wrong with them is that the are pretty big for 125cc bikes, the fairing makes it look pretty big and probably the fairing puts people off. Drop a CG it costs a couple quid to fix drop a CBF and you've got the plastics and the FI sensors to replace.

Well they are only 2k new plus ive heard the quality isnt as good as the cg with parts on new cbfs going rusty after a few weeks, especially exhausts and in the fuel tanks, dunno if it has anything to do with them being made in india and not being able to handle british weather.
But they're cheap and get good mpg

They are almost like the Cg, with a bit more electronics and worse build quality. Stick with a Cg, even an old one, change the oil every 1000 miles and it will just keep going and going

They look half finished as if someone got bored while designing it. Would probably look a lot better if you did away with the small fairings completely.

I had one, and it was fine.
Dropped it once, and only the bar ends got mark, other than it cool.

Got it in april, brand new, so its been through all types of weather and never rusted a bit. (I never treated it with anything to stop rust)

It's suppose to be the replacement for the CG, which seems funny as it so much bigger, but same engine.

I think that dealers bought loads in bulk, but they never really sold too much, which is why there are so cheap now I guess.

Compared to the CG they are unproven, more complex (electronic stuff), doesn't have a mountain of parts and knowledge laying around for it and for a successor to the CG I really don't like the shape or the seat comparatively. The CG's seat was fantastic for me because it's wide and let you put a lot on it. The CBF looks a bit more fragile and slightly less practical.

I'm sure if Honda stick with it then it will have a great place in the market but I don't know if they're really going to have a good appeal for quite as long as the CG had / has.

Just opinion though as you do tend to get a soft spot for bikes you've owned in the past. Were I given a CBF125 I'd probably ride it many thousands of miles like a happy lunatic.

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

Different engine. The CG had a OHV pushrod, the CBF has a much more modern OHC. The inability to make the CG pushrod meet Euro 4 emissions was the deciding factor in killing it off.

I quite like the look of the CBF, but I can see why it might have a problem finding a market. It looks like they started designing a sports bike, then wimped out.

OK, it does look a little bit like a mini half-faired CBF600, but that just means that it'll tend to appeal to people who really want to move onto a 600. Like most 'styled' 125s (also sports, cruisers), I suspect it's a 'just passing through' machine.

The beauty of the CG (and YBR) is that stylistically they say "Look, I'm a cheap, basic commuter with no delusions. Want to make something of it?" The CBF looks more apologetic, like it's trying to be something it's not.

Also, it spilled your pint, and it was chatting up your bird.

I've got one and its alright. Keep the rust at bay with ACF50, dropped it once with minor damage on the bar ends and pegs.

Other than that its a great little commuter. £5 of fuel and I can get 120mpg.

I think I would buy one if I needed to get to work but I'd use it as a bit more of a hack then anything else!
