Julian Assange is a bit of a funny bugger at the best of times from what I've read about him.

I strongly suspect he has been totally prepared for something like this for quite some time and has planned for it.

My bet is they'll never find him and his posts will keep appearing. He has a good enough knowledge of internet security to ensure they wont be able to trace him. There are enough anonymous, barely moderated boards on the internet that there is no way they could silence him totally. They could take down wikileaks as soon as it popped up somewhere but you can't censor the whole internet.

Most of the "criminals" out there are stupid, they make mistakes. That's how the police catch them. Julian Assange strikes me as pretty smart, probably a lot smarter than the people looking for him.

I believe his website is being subjected to a sustained DDOS attack too? I find it hard to believe it would be the "usual" crew behind this.

DDoS is nothing, their DNS was pulled in the US along with every server they had there. Paypall got coerced into shutting down Wikileaks accounts.

There are memos being sent out to all government contractors and federal workers in the US, ordering not to read any Wikileaks documents. Some Unis are getting the same treatment, with students receiving the recommendation to look the other way, if they happen to come across such files, or face being blacklisted from any future gov'ment work that requires security clearance.

The above measures have been taken in response to the upcoming Major US bank file dump in Jan, 2011 by WL, NOT cablegate (diplomatic cables).

I hope the amateur mini-fascists in the US gov'ment pull off something stupid, so we can finally get access to the 256bit AES-encrypted 1.4 GB insurance file, that Wikileaks posted some months ago.

P.S. Assange was in SE London 2 days ago and police knew where he was staying, yet did nothing due to reasons stated in the last paragraph. JA is just a messenger.
