The basis of the rape charges are outlined here by the barrister that was representing him in October...

https://www.crikey.com.au/2010/12/02/when-it-comes-to-assange-r-pe-case-the-swedes-are-making-it-up-as-they-go-along/

The whole situation stinks. Thank god for our "special relationship" that allows us to live in a free society Shhh!

It's a twisted perversion of law being used by the Swedes that allows a woman to claim rape after she consented, on a piece of technical BS that makes sense to nobody but the insane.

Its a frame, A stitch up, conspiracy Call it what you will but it seems a little odd that he's blamed for leaking government secrets and then he's wanted for a rape charge.

Sucks to high heavens.

Don't think that many on here do, as mentioned in the linked thread - which is why posting it here too is a good thing Thumbs Up

The women did it out of spite. There was talk of pressing charges, the swedish prosecutor said there was no point as she didnt think he was guilty. Then America hates him and wants him dead, and suddenly charges are raised against him.

He has exposed a lot of criminal behaviour done in the name of governments and other organisations, kind of ironic that no one is chasing american soldiers for killings, but rather tenuous rape allegations are pursued through Interpol.

In theory the rule of law applies to everyone, but it is very selectively applied.

Most of what he posted isn't particularly interesting anyway, and could be figured out from public sources.

It'd be rude not to share the rest, it's hilarious:

Quote:
The theme for next year's commemoration will be 21st Century Media: New Frontiers, New Barriers. The United States places technology and
innovation at the forefront of its diplomatic and development efforts. New media has empowered citizens around the world to report on their circumstances, express opinions on world events, and exchange information in environments sometimes hostile to such exercises of individuals' right to freedom of expression. At the same time, we are concerned about the determination of some governments to censor and silence individuals, and to restrict the free flow of information. We mark events such as World Press Freedom Day in the context of our enduring commitment to support and expand press freedom and the free flow of information in this digital age.

Go Team USA!

oops!

Quote:
The website of the Swedish prosecution authority appears to be under attack by the group on online activists understood to be targetting all anti-WikiLeaks companies or departments.

Each of the six companies, including Amazon and eBay, that have severed ties with Assange and WikiLeaks in past weeks following political pressure have quickly become the subject of sustained online assaults from the group known only as Anonymous. It took just hours for the Swiss bank, Post Finance, to be brought offline after announcing that it was closing Assange's account on Monday.

The distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS) overload a website's servers with requests to load. Depending on how much demand the servers can withstand – a beneficial facet of larger companies such as Amazon – the site will either take longer than usual to load or be brought completely offline for a period. Anonymous has gained notoriety for attacks on copyright-enforcement agencies and some of the world's largest record labels.

Does nobody else find this wikileaks stuff a bit suspicious in general. I mean, come on, the American government would have had tabs on this guy for a long time.

The fact that he's still alive makes me wonder how much of these documents are really 'leaked'.

Wouldn't be surprised if they decided to say something like "oh bin laden made a tape saying that he's got an attack planned for all these important 'sites', and that he's living in iran. Hence we're gonna attack it'.

There has been speculation about this for months in alternative media. Soros links, some thought it could be used as a honey trap to sting leakers, as well as intentionally leaked misinfo/disinfo interspersed with real info, etc. Assange has a murky background history too. A carefully crafted intel psyop, with Assange as the duped patsy to take the fall?

Speculation as always is rife. Who knows for sure.
