Has anyone suffered from this? at the moment it feels like there is a huge weight sitting on my shoulder and im getting stabbing pains through it if i move it too much.
Been riding this bike for over a month now and it only happened on long journeys if i got cold, i have been riding it to work all last week and now the pain in constant. If anyone else has had this, any ideas on getting rid of it? At least it hurts less riding than it does changing gear in the car! Laughing

oh, and its only my left shoulder and its never happened before.

*ouch* sounds painful!
Maybe you've trapped a nerve or something?

I'd get it checked out if I were you. I trapped a nerve in my back once and didn't get it checked out for months. When I did, it took 2 mins for an osteopath to sort it out!

Get better soon!

More likely to be a repetative strain injury or RSI, from riding your bike, I sometimes get one in my left shoulder if I commute alot on my GS cos the clutch gets quite heavy when its hot.

You can also get an RSI from using a computer to much etc and can be made worse by riding too, I know cos I have one!

Best thing to do is get a more comfortable bike, failing that relax your muscles by getting the other half to massage your shoulder or go to see your doctor Smile.

I get RSI in my wrists, well its carpal tunnel syndrome which is nearly the same. Im thinking it might be a trapped nerve, have got a nice long ride to do in 2 weeks time so will have to get it sorted by then. Crying or Very sad

What the hell! its only a shoulder, i dont need to move it much while riding Mr. Green

Check your clutch and brake levers are in the right position. Position yourself so your forearms are paralell to the ground when riding to lessen the amount of steering input required. Don't grip the bars too hard.

Don't wear leather jeans for too long off the bike (mine KILL my back if I walk about in them too much).

If you are in a hunched up position or reaching too far when riding your bike, consider changing the handle bars, it can make a huge difference.

I remember after a long layoff from riding I ache until I get used to the helmet and the twists/turns required for lifesafers etc. They appear to go away after a week or so.

Sounds like your riding position may be a bit wrong. As said earlier get someone to check your position and help move pegs/bars if required. If you're reaching for the bars maybe some risers will help.

This may sound strange but could it be something to do with your helmet/leathers and getting a 'draft'? I only mention this as if I'm in the car and the vents are set wrong with the cold air I get an ache in the shoulder. Weird I know but happens (and it isn't down to the driving position/seat) Confused Embarassed

Don't ask on a forum. I doubt there are any MD's on here.

Go and see your GP. Tell them the symptoms, then push them for an answer.

Your health is important.

Cheers,

Byrnie.

Ensure your not spending a lot of time in a draft, for example whilst you sleep. Sounds like the kind of pain I sometimes get in my kneck after sleeping under the window.
