did you get it from a reputiple garage? bike tyres aparently only have a shelf life of 3 years but i think thats crap looks like the tyre has been cold and hit a bump or just het up too quick sometimes happens when the tire sits in one position and then gets inflated

Bike is in regular use. Tis parked on carpet in the garage. Holds air fine.

Both tyres were purchased and fitted at the same time, rear has no problems.

Ive contacted Pirelli to see what they say...

i had the same thing happen on my ninja when i had it. i put it down to heat cycles hardening the tyres as the weather got colder.

they just got harder and harder until they ended up like plastic.

No.

What the hell's going on at the edges too? [last pic]
Looks more like a track-used tyre to me with those edges (not saying i don't believe you, just saying it's weird), but yeah, i'd be on the blower to ask the manufacturer what the hell if it was me and all. Potentially dangerous tyres are no laughing matter and i for one do not know enough about tyres to know for sure that that is safe or even should happen, ever.

Fair enough, i generally use more rugged BT45s and would never consider a "soft" track style tyre. Especially for road use.

The "No" was in direct response to the OP's question of "have you ever seen anything like this before".
