Hey,

Just wondering if it was possible to remove and ride without the front fairing on the older model Honda XL Varadero 125?

Don't like the shape of the fairing and would probably be my perfect learner bike without it lol,

Photo Attached...

Cheers,

Mark

Don't know, but if that's the only thing, would there be a way of relocating them using a different kit or bracket?

I guess the head lights built in, would have to turn it into a little custom job and get an aftermarket headlight or something like the one one off the hornet.

Wonder how possible it would be though, work for Harley so shouldnt be any problem with labour etc...just wondering how possible it is for the bike.

Yes you could, but going to need to make up some brackets for the clocks and various other stuff.
All in all, a fair bit of work which will make people presume you've crashed your bike.

It's a learner bike, use it to learn rather than tart about on Wink.0

Lol, yea I suppose so. Hmm, why can't they make a larger scale CG125 or YBR 125? Fair enough its a cheap learner and commuter, but I don't want to look like a giant on a monkey bike!

Because it's rather silly?

If you look at most bigger bikes, more weight is always seen as a negative thing and they only make a point of talking about weight when they've managed to reduce it.

If you could make a sports bike the size and weight of a cg125, no doubt they would.

If you value a bike on it's weigh-in weight, there's always the comet.
Or go for something like the MZ125SM if you're stuck on a 4 stroke, which has the power to back up it's size, but not too much weight.

Just mash it with a hammer and it will come off.

Ah, work for Harley, that may explain some why you like them on the chubby side Laughing.

This is my zx9 with no fairings:

As you can tell, I didn't do it for aesthetics, just that I only had race fairings and they weren't great for mounting lights, so ripped the lot out for ease of MOT.

Harr harr, yea...work for Warr's in London. Live in Bromley so its a bit of a trek on the train and tube every day. Haven't got my full license yet and on a budget, but would be so much better riding in on a 125 with just A CBT.

Big guy so might struggle with the smaller 125's, so working out what else is around and economical. Not the biggest fan of trail bikes, so now for the probably most asked question on here, what else would you recommend?

Missed your earlier post, thought about Hyosungs...most people seemed to talk them down when I used to browse on here. What are your thoughts on the comet and GT125R then?

Check out the Hyosung GT125 Comet or GT125R for a faired sporty look. About the same size as an SV650, with a 125 V twin.

Korean, not Chinese, but best to invest in some ACF50 in any case. There are always a few knocking around second hand. Probably costs about the same as a Varadero, maybe a bit less.

I'm 6'3" and about 15 stone, YBR 125 was fine for me tbh. It's not gonna break sound barrier but good reliability and >100mpg/200miles per tank is hard to argue with for a town commuter.

The fairing will come off, and IIRC (it's 6 months since I've seen one) the clocks should be ok (although they'll probably look dog ugly).

Putting a round lamp and standard indicators on wouldnt be hard, but I can't see why you'd bother cos it would look gash.

You've also then got all that extra weight as well as shit aerodynamics.

They are heavy and expensive for what they are.
Which seems to be what you are after, basically.

Wouldn't be my choice, but not nor would a Varadero either.

NSR125, CBR125, TDR125 - not spending over £1k on any of them.
I'd definitely also consider the MZ125SM too.

NSR125 used to be my favourite when I first started looking years ago, seemed pretty expensive then...will have to have a look around now.

Will have to go and look at something like tat MZ125SM up close too, might change my mind about them once I sit on one. Gives me a task this weekend.

Cheers,
