I've had this a while now after re-building it from a pile of bits in a mates garden but am having trouble with the clutch. I've adjusted it as specified in the manual but it just feels like its

A: not releasing properly when pulling clutch lever in - gear changing is very jerky.

B: not engaging properly when clutch is released, revs feel disproprtionately high in relation to speed.

I realise these aint quick bikes but this feels really sluggish. Engine runs fine and revs freely so think its more to do with the clutch. Also I've red somewhere about there being at least 10mm of free play in lever before clutch starts to work. Mine has no free play at all and the biting point is nearly at the end of the levers travel/resting position.

Could it be that my clutch is need of replacing or maybe just the cable?

I've tried different adjustments but it always seems to either not engage enough or not release enough almost as though the clutch lever doesn't move enough to enable the correct function of the clutch.

Your thoughts please guys.

Andy

I've got an intruder, and when I just got mine the clutch lever was slightly bent from having to wrench it back past the handlebars.

I loosened the bolt from the clutch arm took the whole thing off and turned it clockwise a couple of splines, that adjusted it right back to almost having to let the clutch lever go before it engaged. maybe try that and just fiddle around with it until you get it somewhere you are happy with.

Check the movement on the clutch arm when you pull the lever. on mine the arm sits like this / and when I pull the clutch lever it moves to \ so there isn't a lot of movement in them.

it might be better to take some pictures

I did think about moving the clutch arm round a bit, and will probably give it a go when weather improves. Not riding it at the mo as have a car also which is nicer for these cold days. Nice to meet a fellow intruder owner tho, not many of us about!

I don't really have a choice with the car.... I live in Wales and work in Bristol so would cost me about £250 a month for toll and diesel.... costs me about £20 a month to use the bike Smile
