hi.
i have a 1996 suzuki bandit gsf600 that recently has been playing up. about a week ago i was on my way to work when i hit reserve just down the road from my work place. Because i was so close to work i didnt worry about filling it up as i thought i would do it when i had finished work. that day it didnt stop raining all day so when i came to stat my bike up it was very difficult to start but i put this down to not having much petrol in the tank and it being cold. once it started i drove to the nearest petrol station which was about half a mile away. when i got there i had to wait in traffic to enter the petrol station but as soon as i let off the accelerator the bike died. once i filled the bike up i set off to drive home which is about 10 miles away but all the way home the bike felt sluggish, bad throttle response and when ever i stoped at traffic lights the bike died. the next day i phoned a local bike shop up (i dunno if they no a lot) and told them about the problem, they said i should put some pro FST in the fuel which seem to have help the next day but the following day i went to go out on it and it sounded like it was firing on 3 cylinders.the day after the battery was flat and the bike wouldnt start. i then charged the battery bought 4 new spark plugs, changed the air filter and the bike still wont start. i have checked the battery life and when fully charged it gives a reading on the voltmeter of 13.56V and i have also checked for a spark on each spark plug.
can anyone help me as i will be very grateful.
thanks.

sounds like fuel starvation. Have you checked each cylinder is getting fuel?

Its possible that where you turned it to reserve you drew some crap through and its blocking the fuel lines. Clean/ replace the fuel filter and clean all the fuel lines, then go from there Thumbs Up

Hi

Also check that you haven't switched it to prime rather than reserve (or left it on prime). If you have then check the oil level (prime lets fuel flow all the time, and if left standing can flood the engine to the extent that the oil level goes up).

All the best

Keith

The Pro FST will help if the problem is carb icing / cold starts...
but it sounds very much like there's some crap been pulled from the almost empty tank into the carbs
