Tradition, innit!

So what's the connection between the following mishaps?
(Events are in chronological order most recent at the top).

KR1S, "slo mo" crash, avoiding a head on, bike written off, broken bones and a dislocation for me.
Cavalier SRi, fuel pump packed in, 8 mile walk home in the rain.
Astra managed to fry all the wiring in the steering column, sold for spares!
DR600 stolen from house, whilst visiting relatives, never found.
MG Metro, gearbox terminated itself on the M6, AA relayed to destination after 2 hour wait!
Suzuki jeep, cracked engine block for no apparent reason, scrapped!
250LC, binned it on black ice, cosmetic damage, made it to work!

Answer, well they've all happened to me, over the years, at xmas FFS!

So to keep this tradition alive, my CBR600 decided to blow it's head gasket on the way home from work tonight, woo hoo!

Filled her up with petrol and got back on the main road, stopped at the lights, the car in the inside lane is beeping me so I turn round and he's pointing at the ground. Sure enough there's a a pool of emulsified oil and water collecting under the bike, 'kin 'ell.

No warning of this, not been using oil, not been over heating.
Anyway I pulled over, there was a watery oil mix all over the LH side of the rear tyre, fortunately had a cloth to clean it all off. Well I had to decide what to do, I'm in the middle of nowhere, no breakdown recovery, (unless you're willing to sell your soul, you can only get third party insurance here, for a bike FFS).
I had about 12 miles to get home, so I decided to risk it, the worst part is it's all uphill, I had to climb from 100m above sea level to 625m above sea level, fook.
Crawled home keeping the revs below 2500, the temp got quite high, but never in the red zone. Just to add to the festive mood, about 3 miles from home a lurrverly, Cyprus, thunder and lightning storm lets rip accompanied with high winds and hailstones the size of ,fookin', marbles. Got into the village and the roads were just water flumes.

It's still thunder and lightning now, managed to get a pic of what she belched up when I got home:-

No chance of an immediate repair, can't see the parts getting here before the middle of January, the way things are in the UK. Probably end up having to hire a car, bugga!

And people wonder why I hate xmas!!!!!!!

I've now killed a car and a bike in the last six weeks, huzzah!

Thanks for the condolences, , couldn't reply here last night, had 2 hours of " the server is busy at the moment, please try again later". (Who's eaten all the cornflakes)?

I'll be dropping the fluids and performing the autopsy at lunch time, weather permitting! (Gotta clean 2 swimming pools before that though).

A bus, you're 'aving a larrf! We only progressed from the horse and cart in the late 80's here!

Next question how do I clean out the cooling system, it would appear there is a layer of emulsion all around the system? Any proprietary cleaners for this?


Just thought of another xmas mishap. Late nineties, can't remember what year, there was a helluvva a storm in Southwest Scotland on Boxing day night, uprooted and destroyed a large plum tree, flattened my greenhouse, took out the flue from the Aga and took a good chunk of the kitchen roof with it!
