2.) VFR400 NC30 (33bhp).

3.) Don't know, but claims of around 4 seconds.

Not sure restricetd. The cbr400 will do 0-60 in between 4 and 5 seconds, at full power : 60bhp or so.

It'll do 60 mph in first gear and it pulls relatively hard in first as well. Spins up nice and quickely in first gear as well.

I tried to time myself 0-60 but had a slight problem looking at my watch and changing gear at the same time. Plus, the bloke in the cage in front didn't like me running up his arse either for not looking at the road.

On the topic of the cbr400:

P.s. it will be quite a while before you can pluck up the courage/skill to go full on, ie idle through to redline up the gears. If you tried doing that after your test, you would cak yourself, no exaggeration...

They are fast enough, for a good while. And i recon the handling, brakes makes up for a slight defacite in power (compared to 600/liter bikes). But saying that, for the road 400s are all you need. You just have got to keep the 400s spinning, ie high rpm... Make for fun though.

You'll love them, trust me.

Of course you are right, D man. But for a bike of the age/ cheap price you get a lot for you're money. And they do handle really nicely.

New 600s will probably out run a 400 in twisties. But 400s are damn good, and maybey better than all but the newest/best bikes.

Dont worry you're blade is way better.

Of course it helps if its being ridden by a good rider.

again loads of bike's brakes will out-brake 400s. But fr a newly passed person , all thouse things will be way more than needed for a good while...

Claud - I agree with what you're saying really and a 400 is a great way to get into riding sports bikes. It's a shame that the UK still doesn't import 400cc machines as part of the official range and offer the backup they deserve. Perhaps if they did it might actually bring the death/accident rates of sports bike riders down.

If you've just passed your test and fancy a nice new machine what are the options? A 600cc supersports that are now so track based they are winning races without too much tweaking, or you could get something like Honda's idea of what the learner wants, the CBF500/600.

Not everyone wants to buy a commuter and sports machines definitely draw in learners. It's about time the big boys in the manufacturing world realised this and did something to control it.

P.S I wasn't trying to do the "My bike's better than yours" thing, each to their own as far as I'm concerned.
