So let me get this straight............
There is no way i can utilise my No Claims Bonus from a motorbike to get cheaper car insurance?
No, because they're both completely different tends to be the answer on a google search!
Yet any points accrued from riding my motorbike has to be declared on my car insurance quotation
Yes
As a 21 year old being on 2 wheels for 5 years....no claims at all but 6 points (3 for re-adjusting the strap on my glove while moving...taking hands off the handlebars for a few seconds is deemed not in proper control of my vehicle. The other 3 for no front L plate on my NSR125 nearly 4 years ago.....that is my bad...) my cheapest quote for Third Party on a 1.2 Clio....
£3830.27

I believe some underwriters do allow you to use bike NCB on cars, it'd be a case of ringing individual ones and asking though.
Also, I assume that quote is online? Often if you ring companies instead they are cheaper. Keep an eye out for companies that "Guarantee to beat any like-for-like quotation" as they can be useful.
Try some other cars, Clios are very often crashed by people so try some others. Avoid Corsas, Saxos, Peugeot 306s and such like the plague if you can.
Judging by that quotation you probably aren't going to get below £3000. I'd stick with two wheels for a few years until those points disappear as it's only the points making your quote crazy.
Hope that helps. ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."

I thought points only stayed on for 3 years?
And LOL at someone doing you for taking your hand off the bar, I regularly adjust my gloves with no hands, have done so past a cop before too. You must live in a shocking postcode, or you need to do some comparisons. ____________________ 2017 KTM 350 XC-F - 2014 Yamaha R6 - 2005 Yamaha YZ125

I love when i rang up about car insurance and guy asks me:
him: 'how long you held your full license'
me: '2 years'
him: 'when did you pass your car test'
me: 'year ago'
him: 'so you had your pink license 2 years, right?'
me: 'yeah'
him: 'and you passed your car test 2 years ago?'
me: 'no, i passed it year ago, but i had my pink license 2 years'
him: 'thats not possible'
it gets even worse when i say i have 3 years ncb and they say its impossible as i only held my license 1 year...

Well, I can see 3,830 reasons to rant about it. Suck to be young. And it didn't always used to be this way - the insurance on my first car did cost less than the car, and the car didn't cost much.
Mind you, I did once see a youngish chap at an auction buy a 2 year old Sierra Cosworth (think about £20K in new money), then call an insurer from a payphone. Pause... "That's more than I paid for the car!"
Just tell yourself, Duckie,
you’re really quite lucky!
Some people are much more…
oh, ever so much more…
oh, muchly much-much more
unlucky than you! |

I'm in exactly the same boat at the moment, and getting ludicrous quotes for insurance.
Just got one for £8,000 on a 1991, K10, 5 door, 988cc Nissan Micra worth £300
Cheapest quote I've got so far was £3,100 on a 1 litre Seat Arosa.
I guess I'm just going to have to wait, and hope that I get a company Fiesta van from work |

I think part of the mentality behind it is that if you're insuring a better car (i.e not a corsa or saxo etc. etc.) then you're more likely to wanna look after it. Therefore be more careful on the roads with it. Insurance quotes should require an interview. In which they can PROPERLY assess your risk to their huge profits. ____________________ 57 Huoniao HN125-8 - , 97 Kawasaki GPZ500S -

They've been making huge losses because of robbing cunts.
And because of those robbing cunts, the price of insurance goes up for everybody. So if you want to blame anyone, blame the people who've gone for the quick buck by inflating their insurance claim. |
