Its been bouncing around on ebay for years. Its not worth the £40k it was put up for a year ago, and its certainly not worth a quarter of a million quid. You'd have to be a mug to pay anything over £15k for it.

Quarter of a million for a home-made bike? Madness.

Apparently it is 'official' and was comissioned by Ferrari and made by MV or someone.

That wasn't how I read the blurb on the e bay ad, but it's still a bloody ridiculous price.

Of course. All that has been happening is that different dealers have been buying it and then selling it on for loads more money. No actual collector wants it. Its an air cooled four cylinder sportsbike with a double cradle frame. A Bandit 1200 is a better bike fercreissakes!

I decided to build this bike, despite the fact that the genius design and engineering minds of the worlds most famous racing brand had concluded it was not worth thier lunchbreaks to even cobble together such an eyesore.

saw it on here about a year ago, as stated, for £40k. Looks like it's had bits nicked from other bikes, GSXR400 GK76a/750 headlight and CBR400 rear by the looks of it lol

Incidentally - the car dealer i worked for was Specialist Cars @ Tockwith, York - guy who own's it (Kristian) was about as bent as car dealers come, cars were "patched" up before selling, and he was truely the most dishonest person i've ever met... would never in my lifetime buy or let anyone i know buy a car from him !!!!!!

He was so dodgy, that when i worked there (i was 16) he had no problem letting me drive a masarati bi-turbo to the shops, or even took a porsche 944 home for a night!

having known the owner, and worked for him, i can HONESTLY say i expect this isn't even the real "ferrari" bike, he's the most untrustworthy excuse for a human being i've ever met... numerous times i've seen people jump over his desk in an attempt to punch him after being screwed over by him, he is, as my granny would say, a true scumbag that would be flattered if called a spunk stain on the trousers of humanity Thumbs Up

I stand by my opinion that it is a complete waste of a gixxer headlamp. Rip off that gash bikini fairing and it might not look quite so grim.

Also I don't remember seeing any endurance racers with centre stands.

Because a Bandit 1200 is an air/oil cooled four cylinder bike with a double cradle frame that has more power, and probably better handling.

Doesnt necessarily make it a 'better bike' though.
According to them theirs makes 105hp, more than the 98 of a bandit.
Also they say their 'Ferrari 900' only weighs 172kg, fifty less than a bandit dry. Surely thats a considerable weight advantage?
That engine looks very much like a 70s MV Agusta dohc unit to me, I understand there's a firm producing complete copies of the bikes as new.
Seems unlikely that the engine was 'scratch built' by the person who assembled the rest of it.

Bandit 12 gains 15bhp with an end can. I also bet the Bandit is better developed than this 'special'.

WOW, I knew that an end can gave a considerable gain on the Bandit 12, but didn't realise it was that much!

A classic bike dealership i used to work for (Phil cottons) used to own it

Cant really say much, apart from, it was in our showroom for the two years that i worked there, built by dave kay, co-owned by Phil cotton, and Ray steel (steels removals)

Up close, yes the craftsmanship is all very nice, many parts hand made, very nice.. uses Mv Internals ( so if anything went wrong, parts could be replaced)
It did have a certificate with it from "Ferarri" giving the rights to badge it up as a ferrari, but thats all thats ferrari about it imo.
My boss had a photo album of it being built by Dave Kay, was nice to look through on a brew break if nothing else.

What do i think?

Complete waste of money, its an ornament not a motorcycle, anyone that ever bought it, couldnt use it, To sit on, its damn awful, never heard it run, as the business closed down, and i left to work elsewere.

My boss owned it, i think, in the mindset it was going to be worth millions, then struggled to sell it on, and when his business went down, it got shipped to various places, America was one i think, and it never sold.

it comes up on ebay every six months, and never sells.
Im unsure if he still owns it, or if hes just getting dealers to try to sell it for him, haven't seen him in a year or so, and i wouldnt want to ask about it, i think its abit of a sore spot Very Happy

EDIT:

If anyones interested, heres his current website, most of the bikes there are the ones we had in our showroom, alot of them being specials/resto's
Was a good job to be honest, but im glad im working on more modern stuff now Smile

Looks ugly, description sounds like bollocks.

It sounds like someone wrote into Ferrari and the Italian person working on the other side understood them to be asking if they could simply put a "ferrari badge" on their motorcycle and agreed to this akward request.

At which point the morons in the UK understood this to be a full endorsement to create a whole new bike in ferrari style.

Sounds like total balls to me, wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
