Blacked out Windscreens & Visors

Now correct me if I'm wrong, BUT, are blacked out windscreens and visor's not illegal in this country?

I thought as much, well, on that point, can someone explain to me why Asians (probably more-so muslims) are allowed them on their £50,000 cars?

Hi

There are restrictions on the amount of light allowed to be blocked on screens forward of the driver. There is some misunderstanding as to whether this applies to the side windows at the level of the driver (it does) which means plenty of people get away with it.

Including Princess Di who regularly got in the press getting into her car with blacked out side windows.

Can cars put that 'tint on a roll' sheeting inside the windows (much like a visor insert) and still be legal? It's not permenant or anything and we get away with it...

You can tint the rear window and back 2 windows as much as you want as it is then just like a van if you think about it. There is a limit to what you can tint your front 2 windows to and any good bodywork shop should be able to tell you this. It is illegal to tint the windscreen although there are ways round it, some manufacturers are using glass that changes due to light, like them sunglasses you can get.

I'm wondering why it had to be *muslim* Asians, how do you know they were Muslims? Did they 'look' muslim? Or are you succumbing to the governments 'be afraid' plan and getting worried that the darker skinned people - ie. Muslims - are all building bombs behind their tinted windows...

rsooty I hope you weren't reading my post as racist? I was trying to make a non-racist point about the original post.... I totally agree with you, it's people's actions that make me dislike them, not the colour they happen to be. I was remarking that not all Asians are Muslims, and being Muslim is not necessarily a negative label in the first place! (unless you're the US government trying to keep your country nervous that is )

Dude, u shud check out my homeland... 100% Halal muslim stuff, can't even go for a hot dog and beer cos it's considered "sinful"... Indonesia is a Hellhole and people drive around with 70% blacked (or brown tint) rear and fronts and 80% sides... I guess they've got blackouts here cos they don't want to be perceived as hypocrites here when they're blatantly smoking out of a bong and downing bottles of JD inside their cars.

You get a lot of them in london, particularly around Edgware Road/Marble Arch. I once nearly got knocked off my ped as some Cun!- in some arab merc S class with mirrored windows failed to signal and pulled out at a set of lights.

Seeing that we're on the topic of Asian blads... i kinda hate them boy racers with 100" pipes and the lark. During a snow day, i lofted a fat wedge of ice and snow into one of them shoddy 5" exhausts and waited from a distance to see the car pull out. When it did, steam was pouring out of the engine and continuously stalled. Next week, as i was walking past the college which the car was parked at, he had a new exhaust put on . And HE DID have blacked out windows and a Sunstrip!!!

The reason tinting was banned is because of some idiot in a corsa. He tinted all his windows with three layers of midnight tint, then pulled out and killed a BIKER. The police found out that only 1% of light could pass through the glass.
