Had a few of these pads now, both on my dirt bike and road bike, on the dirt bikes they have been fine.

This pad was in the rear of the SV (road bike), seems it rusted so bad it lifted the friction material off??? Confused

What's most annoying is that there was plenty of friction material left. They aren't THAT old* either ... anyone else had this?

It can't be good?? Confused

*Just under 12 months.

Hmm, not that I know of. Got them on the Hornet at the moment. Going to give all the brakes a clean next week so will have a look.

Had them on the last track bike and certainly had no problems. Who did you buy them from? Some people sell knock offs apparently (I get mine from Busters Accessories ebay account, which seem to be the real deal).

That is how good Suzukis are at rotting, they even turn non OEM parts into rust scrap in no time. Laughing

I get mine from Goldfren direct (well their eBay outlet).

Having a calliper UNDER the rear disc is asking for trouble, quite a few bikes have it.

I suppose it is road salt taken hold over the past 2 winters ... guess I should wash my bike more often!! Very Happy

Well to be fair, 1.5 winters - at best!! Very Happy

If you are using pads every 2 months, then no wonder you are not getting the same problem.

You are an exception, as I'd say rear pads in a bike that are >1yr old is more common than rear pads <1yr old to be honest.

Yeah, that is fair. Average bike mileage is meant to be something like 3500 miles a year

Shows how people feel differently! I fitted them to the missus fazer track bit and junked them within 100 miles. Horrible, wooden and useless was my opinion.

I would never have them again, but I had Armstrong pads and loved them and there are lots on here who would never ever use them!

I used goldfren once on the old GPZ... but they seemed to wear away faster than a piece of cheese on a grater!!

and for the record I had a similar experience with the friction material on a set of Armstrong pads used on the Bandit

I've used goldfren pads many times, they're halfway between Kyoto pads at the very cheap end (pretty poor) and EBC at the expensive end. I'd say they're pretty cost effective wear wise, maybe not the same feel as EBC pads but nonetheless pretty decent.
I'm surprised they've rusted so badly in the op's pictures, every set I've had appear a sort of bright copper type colour and don't seem to take on rust at all.

You can still see some of the copper spray - below the muck and rust!! Very Happy

Had a pair of pads rust to bits on a bike that was standing for some time, not sure if they were goldfren though. I'd be surprised if they were all painted copper?

I tend to use EBC or Armstrong pads, Armstrong are my all time fave in HH flavour.
