Be interesting if they can make it cheap AND good quality, as opposed to Hyosung, that entirely failed to make their bikes cheap, there by removing the reason to stray from the proven Japenese.

If they fail on the quality, it'll be rather scary I suspect - a 125 owned by a learner that'll blamed for crashing the bike anyway is going to be a bit different to trying to keep up with bikes that can lap a race track faster than most sports cars!

Jialings site says they do a 600. They may not be up to japanese quality but they've been making bikes since 1979 and are still in business which is a lot more than you can say about the other companies which seem to come and go every few months. I knew someone who had one 10 years ago, it was basically a CG with a cub 90 engine copy in it. It kept running for years and seemed reasonably well made. It was basically what a £1500 new japanese bike would have been but for £1000, rather than a £3000 japanese bike for £3000.

Judging from a recent thread about CBF125s rusting, it seems even Honda are heading for the bottom to compete in some cases.

When the Chinese manufacturers have matured enough that they can use decent materials in production and have decent quality control, and a reliable spares backup, then they might be a prospect.

Until then, it still looks good from a distance, and in promo shots, but I don't really think you'd want it in the long term, and with the Chinese that's a matter of a few months, not years.

the problem with these chinese bikes is that people will still buy them! Thus chinese manufacturers can start upping their costs in R&D and take on the bigger sports bike market despite how shit they are!

And that jinling looks like a copy of the latest hornet with the old hornet engine in place

That looks too organised and staged to be a spontaneous protest from a few Indian bikers.

Let's guess... The Indian bike manufacturers and market (which I'd guess largely supplies it's own populace) is hurting because they're being swamped by even cheaper Chinese bikes made by political prisoners out of recycled WTC beams and green cheese. Globalisation it seems isn't such a good force when you're on the receiving end, and you thought you were on to a good thing because you could undercut all the fat lazy workers elsewhere, but are now undercut by your neighbours, who will work for even less in factory conditions of near slavery.

What goes around comes around and we all learn to suffer in the race to the bottom.

That Bezzi guy just lives in a dream world spamming the MCN site with shitty photoshop jobs along with random stuff about them being concepts from various manufacturers.

A shame really as if by some miracle the Chinese invested in quality materials and paid attention when they nailed it together, a speed four clone with a chink price tag would be a tasty prospect.

That'd be because it's a photoshopped speed four Wink - though they weren't quite as bad as the TT600.

I think those are Korean.

I know that you can get hold of a 400cc Chinkmobile, but these 'promo shots' are blatantly from the imagination of someone who thinks that the lens flare tool from photoshop adds credibility to a picture.

As such, they are imbued with lies and failure.

The thing that worries me about this chink clone crap is that they pay fuck all towards R&D. Not a problem with 25 year old designs, but when they start copying the latest Honda/Suzy etc and turning them out for half the price, how many sales will the Japanese lose.

Then when the Japs stop major R&D and just stuck with the old designs to cut costs, we (the bike enthusiasts) are going to be the losers.

From the pics above That Jialing "hornet" thing looks nicer than the Honda one. But having owned a chinese bike before I wouldnt entertain it.

Biggest you can get in the UK at the moment is the Lifan LF400, a nut-and-bolt clone of the XV400 Virago/Dragstar - the 535 with smaller pistons and sleeved cylinders. They got good reviews and their owners like them - a couple of chaps did London to John O' Groats and back straight out of the crate, no problems.

There's no reason that the Chinese can't make decent bigger bikes. There's nothing magical about Japanese-branded bikes, most of which are made in China, Korea, India, Brazil and Spain anyway. But I wouldn't want to be the first UK buyer to try one out and find that they've cheaped out on the welds or bearings.

Also, given the track record of UK Chinese-branded dealers, any warranty you get would be a "if we feel like it" version. They change names and brands at the drop of a hat., hardly the way to build brand loyalty.

Good point about Hyosungs - who on earth buys a brand new Hyosung just to save a couple of hundred £££ on a SV650, knowing they'll get shagged on the resale? I'd try a used one, but I'd worry that anyone cheap enough to buy them new is probably too cheap to look after them.

They are made by HMSI though, not sure if they have the same build quality as Honda. Not sure what peoples opinion on Honda quality is but my 10 year old NSR has no rust at all, some of the cheap Chinese bikes can't go ten weeks without going rusty
