Heyy. Long time no see Rolling Eyes

Got myself a Yamaha FZR1000 EXUP RU 1992, collecting it early jan so will post pictures then Smile. Not going to do much to it, but going to put on some new renthal bars and new front headlight (streetfighter basically, but only as its what i prefer).

Cant wait to collect it Very Happy. One question though, i thought it came with Deltabox on the frame but this one doesnt, i guess it only came on later models? Merry christmas by the way!

Eddie

I thought Deltabox was just the frame beam cross section design?
I've known a few people with EXUP valve bikes who have had problems with the valves and control systems. Nothing bike or engine destroying but something that's had them scratching their heads and fiddling.

Isn't the EXUP just to give more useable power at the lower rev range tho or does it cause major problems?

To the OP, enjoy your bike. Wait for the ice to melt and dont kill yourself (or get any points) Thumbs Up

Yup the exup works a fair bit like the power valves do on a 2 stroke. They make it go faster and easier to ride when all working properly, but the bike feels faster when they're not working. Electronics near the road, exhaust and pistons are never going to age well and usually get tinkered with by someone who's read something on the internet or been told something by a mate hoping to make the bike faster and better.

The RU is a later model! USD forks as standard normally.

Exup valve IS a waste of time, its just to make less noise IMO. I Ripped mine streight out and prefered every second of it!

Yep it has USD Smile. Found some new top yokes for £125, which ill get in feb. Also found a new simple round headlight (like the ones on a cb600 for example). Going to be a simple streetfighter for function more than anything. Also thinking of downgearing it, but that will come with time.

Got the bike for £600, 21,000 miles and clean condition. MOT till april, bargain.

Is that easy enough to do? I guess its part of the exhaust system just below the engine? I need my noise.

take off the left hand side(as your sat on it) side panel. Youll see the exhaust collector, take off the chromeish colored panel covering some wires, then open the remaining bolts, and pull off the two cables...
Take out the system, unbolt the weird thing that runs into the exhaust, block up the hole made from taking it off (Make sure you dront drop the washer/spacer from the end into the exhaust!!!)
Then bolt all back on...

I Left the exup cables in place, just not attached, doesnt do any harm!!
