You need a piece of software that interfaces between your PC and a site that supplies torrents. Bit Torrent is a good one:
https://www.bittorrent.com/
It's free. Download and install it.
Then go to a site like BTJunkie:
https://btjunkie.org/
Up the top there's a black bar into which you type the name of what it is you want, in this case for example the movie Solitary Man. Hit enter, you'll get a bunch of results. A lot will be bogus, but select one and so long as it says "Verified by the Community" in green it should be good. Don't choose one bigger than around 700mb in size.
Select the big blue "Download Torrent", select "Open" (not "Save") and it'll fire up the torrent software you installed. Say yes to everything, it'll start downloading your file. It'll probably save it into your downloads folder. Once it's downloaded go to where it is, double-click it and enjoy.
There's a filter next to the black bar which allows you to focus the search for the type of file you want, eg select "video" and you won't have to trawl through a bunch of games and music called "Solitary Man". ____________________ "There's the horizon! I tend to go for larger files, mainly as sound quality is generally better (AC3 etc). "One CD" has been the standard rip/encode since the year dot, usually acceptable stereo sound and a decent image.
Is bandwidth really a problem? I've been with Virgin for years and easily hit 70-80GB a month (done around 30GB in the last week after flashing the xbox ), never had any issues though. Is ADSL that different? ____________________ I'm immortal. Well, so far. |

I took out unlimited internet with PlusNet when we moved house 3 yrs ago.
Within 3 months I noticed that YouTube was suddenly incredibly slow ... so I rang the provider to find out why.
Turns out that my daytime downloads had pushed me over a set limit... and that they had throttled me for the rest of that month
He then cheerfully informed me I was in the top 10 of downloaders in the UK (for that provider .. but considering they are part of BT its no mean achievement).
So thats something to be proud of I guess ____________________ There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffa tape.
