I have a yamaha neos 49cc - de-restricted and got a technigas(?) race pipe on it.

The accelaration is fine up to 30mph but if i release the throttle and then re-apply it, it takes literally forever to go any faster and it can do 45mph (only sometimes though, if i full throttle from standstill.) as I've had it to that on a private road.

I know it's not going to be the fastest moped on the road but it's quite scary on roundabouts when you have no power.

No comments about being a chavvy pedboi or how it's never going to be fast. Just looking for help with my moped.

See the Aprilia Rally thread........have you re-jetted the carb to account for your modifications or changed the rollers to match the powerband of the exhaust??

Take your sparkplug out and check the colour as your engine is probably on death row Thumbs Up

i've been told it might be my rollers, as the standard ones are 6.5g, after searching on the internet, it seems i have to replace the rollers for lighter ones..does this sound right?

Power band of exhaust ..... Confused Confused

Oh yes, the tuned length of a 2 stroke exhaust changes both the position (where in the rev range) and size (how long it lasts) of the power band.

https://www.vespamaintenance.com/engine/primer/twostrokeact.gif

In this you can see the pulse heading back up the exhaust to ram any fresh charge that has started heading down the exhaust back into the cylinder, the more you cram in the bigger the bang. Altering the exhaust changes where in the rev range this effect is at its best.

Email technigas and see if they can recommend a roller weight for you. If you're tuning a 50 i'd use the best 2 stroke oil you can afford.

Some exhausts make the power highter up in the rev range and therefore require lighter rollers and some lower down which require heavier ones.

Your jetting in the carb may still be out, check out the Rally 50 thread which explains how to do a plug chop. Thumbs Up

Have you searched any Ped forums for somebody that may have done it before you.

Livefast123 U Dont Have To Up-Jet If Uve Only Got A Pipe On It :/

Try Putting A K&N Air Filter On InStead Of The Standard Box Airfilter Also Make Sure The Filter Pipe From The Carb To The AirFilter Hasnt Come Off As That Will Cause It To Box Madness.

Make Sure Ya Airfilter Hasnt Got Wet Either.

Obviously speaking from years of 2 stroke experience Thumbs Up

If you change the airflow charge into and out of an engine then you have to jet suitably but then you should know that having a 60 + Mph NRG. Confused

The op asked how to improve his bike not blow it up.

Found the problem,

HT Lead wasn't on the spark plug correctly, was literally hanging off. So replaced spark plug aswell whilst I was there and pushed the ht lead all the way on, there was some crappy sparkplug in there so changed it for an ngk one and that has sorted my accelaration problems.

I will still be getting the rollers sorted out sometime within the next month.

Thank you everyone for your help, much appreciated.

When you've done a few miles then take the plug out and see what general colour it is just to check the jetting is correct.

You don't want a white or black plug as this indicates leans and rich mixture respectively.

The old one was like a tan/browny colour. Is that ok?

Sorry to bump the thread. What rollers would you recommend to change to? The standard rollers are 6.5g. What would be the best to change it to? Bearing in mind I also have a tecnigas exhaust.

Thanks for any help.

well how well is it rev-ing? Is the accerlation lacking still?

Whats the top speed at the mo?

Generally you need to go to lighter rollers, the exhuast website (if any) should tell you what rollers are needed.
