Right i've been looking for decent video cameras for a while now for both biking and snowboarding.
To cut a long story short i'm becoming a distributor for some HD video cameras that don't seem to be available in the UK. They are pretty reasonably priced compared to what is currently out there and I would appreciate a few comments on the quality of a few different units I have.
As always with cameras the quality always looks exponentially better as the weather is brighter, so for this initial comparison I've taken a few short videos in dull overcast conditions:
Ignore the clipping and tapping noise on the sound, I tied them down with a strap that kept whipping off them in the wind.
I uploaded them to youtube in HD but it seems to have lost a fair bit of quality but you get the jist.
Camera 1 (1080p):

Camera 2 (720p):

Cheers.

I could only realistically view them on the 720 setting.
The last one is about the best for me with very natural tones.
The 2nd one seems brighter and more saturated - potentially over saturated in brighter light?
Maybe it would adjust accordingly.
It seems to be trying too hard to make a dull day look bright.

Ill take some pics of the kit to give a better idea but the basics are:
- Camera 1:
Most expensive
Really well built
Seperate bullet cam and recording/playback device
External mic input (which i put under the seat, hence the better sound quality in this vid.)
- Camera 2:
Cheapest camera
Fully waterproof to 10m
720p max res
All in one bullet style (but quite large)
- Camera 3:
Mid range
Waterproof but only to about 0.5m
1080p
All in one style, but with LCD on the side for positioning etc

No.2 picks up more noises compared to No.3. But regarding the picture, all of them were decent. ____________________ own:2020 Serow 250

1,3,2 for me as well.
Sound quality on the first camera is far better than the others, I'd be interested in seeing how the cameras cope towards the end of the day. A forward pointing camera would be nice to see as well, not used to looking backwards from a bike! ____________________ Honda CLR125 > Hyosung GT650 Fighter + Suzuki DR250 |
