Got up on New years day, (having not partaken in the festivities), a nice bright morning here, walked the dog, had a sausage sarnie.

Went to the shed to check, what I thought was, a knackered battery for my DRZ400E, lo and behold it was fully charged and holding the charge.
The DRZ hasn't been started since May, so although I was hopeful, I wasn't holding my breath. Anyway took the cover off and fitted the battery, checked the oil and water then hit the button, started within a second, woo hoo! Dance!

Let the old girl Idle for a bit then checked the tire pressures, all good to go, pulled on all my gear, and set off for a ride.

I'm really lucky here, within 100m from my door I can get onto a network of, gravelly, mountain tracks.
Last year I worked out a circuit, from "A" to "A" Laughing , one lap being about nine miles. I put in three laps before calling it a day.
Now I'm no motoxer, ( I am, infact, captain slow when it comes to offroad), but for once I decided to really go for it, brilliant, best hour I've spent on a bike for ages. Slides, wheelies, had the back end snaking out of the corners and full throttle wheel spinning action through all the gears. No big shakes to all the, seasoned, off roaders I'm sure, but for me It was bleedin' marvellous! Mr. Green (I'd love to go out again this afternoon but Sundays are hunting days here, they're not good shots)! Crying or Very sad

Got home, watched the footy on the telly, followed by a slap up roast.
Thought I'd have a look at Ebay for some new plastics for the DRZ. Stuck a couple of items on the "watch list", then decided to check my e-mails.
(Anyone who has read my thread about my CBR problems will know that I work contracts, the current one has just ended).

So I sign onto my email account and there at the top of the list is a message from the client whose contract I was working.
I assumed it was a bit of admin that needed taking care of so I opened it.

I couldn't believe what I was reading, they are offering me a full time job on twice, yes twice, the salary I was on! I'm still walking round in a daze now, I am in dreamland, bleedin' amazing.

I can only assume I'm getting karma for my humane mouse trap and rehousing escapade! (Gawd bless ya little fella). Karma

Things have been, somewhat, trying for me for the last two years, but today life is good Very Happy

I'm so tempted to post the obligatory "Cool story bro" sign but I'll restrain myself this once and instead say......Well done that man!

I hadn't started the bandit for 3 weeks and hadn't put the battery on charge (even though it has an alarm fitted). So yesterday I turned the key and pressed the starter and it fired up, so I lubed the chain and took it out for a 40 mile ride.

Not quiet on the same level as the OP, but I was happy Thumbs Up

Pretty good, sounds like you'll be able to afford to fix up your RZ! Smile

Its a bit better than my new year, some cock broke into my garage and stole my tools on NYE...

No, I did not party on new years eve, it was done during the day between about 07:00 and about 14:30.

Yep, you're right about the RZ probably be able to afford a complete rebuild rather than the half arsed effort I'm into at the moment! Laughing

Sorry about your tools, guess I used up a lot of BCF's good luck yesterday! Laughing Karma
