So, im on my way home, everything working as it should, deccelerating as i approach a set of traffic lights. The lights change to green so im already rolling at about 15mph, as i come to accelerate the bike just loses power and cuts out. All the lights, gauges, horn etc are working (the lights still shining at full strength.
When i try the electric start it ticks over as usual but wont start up. The kick start feels as though it has the usual pressure but won't start off that either.
There are no loose wires anywhere, the spark plug is seated firmly as is normal.
Also there is about half a tank of fuel in there so it can't be that either.
Really need help as ive got the bike locked up and covered but it's been there a week now.
Thankyou for any help |

Take your plug out, and test it for a spark.
Check your fuses, check fuel tap is not blocked.
Take the carb off and give it a good clean out.
Check kill switch?
These are things off the top of my head, systematic problem solving. Obviously check to see if it works when you've changed one thing before you do something else. I can't give much more advice as there are not many details given.

Basically your engine needs Air, Fuel and a Spark to work. If it suddenly cuts out without warning it is almost definitely one of those 3 things which is your problem.
So fuel- could be a blockage somewhere, at the fuel tap, fuel filter, one of the jets in the carburettor?
Spark- Spark plug could have gone (quite likely to be the problem). Or, usually the most difficult to diagnose- an electrical problem: Ignition, coil, HT Lead, loose connector, a short, corroded connector or wire. There's loads of possibilities.
Seriously now, have you ACTUALLY checked your kill switch? You wouldn't be the first person to do that.
