I have been looking at Aprilia RS125's on Pistonheadz, ebay, gumtree and biketrader.

I can't seem to make sense of the prices. Ive seen 2008 versions available for £800 but at the same time I've also seen 2000 versions going for near £2k.

Then speaking with others in person, and reading on forums, I've come across a few who say they have purchased one for under £500. Ok so those ones usually have problems but still, even when I see problematic rs125's with no tax and no mot, they are still priced near a grand.

So is there someone who can explain these for me? like what is a good year for this bike and how much should I expect to pay for a decent one that has been regularly serviced?

Prices range on alot of different factors on private sales. Some guys are prepared to hold out for a sale, some people are desparate for cash and will take a low offer to literally get if off their hands.

Some of the lads here know 2T's much much better than me, but look for a owner who has some knowledge of 2T's as if neglected can be abit of a pandora's box.

You should be able to pick up an early 2000's opne for 800-£1000 thats been looked after reasonably well.

Usually bought and sold by learners. Learners buy with their heart not their head and will pay top price for old dogs. I guess the older ones are higher priced because all things being equal, they are faster.

Also just because a bike is for sale at a high price it doesn't mean it will sell.

Pre 2005 bikes are apparently slightly faster.

It all depends on the miles, some key mile points in the RS life can mean a top end rebuild or not.

Others depemds maybe on location.

Think some of the cheaper ones might be coming up for a top/bottom end rebuild so people will sell them on as they don't know how to do it or don't want to pay out for one.

What ever you do, don't buy one from some speed hungry chav!
More than likely, they would have modified it to breaking point.
Then you're the one who has to pick up the pieces Crying or Very sad
My mate recently aquired a Gilera 50cc rcr for £675.
The seller was a young council estate inhabitant. (bad mistake)
Needed a bit of work doing to it, nothing major though.
Then a month after, the engine decided to stop working. Sad
It's that bad, that it needs a full rebuild. Shocked
Harsh since it's his first bike, but a lesson to be learned...
