Seems to be a slight adjustment in the Law just for the sake of it.
Yet again everybody is assumed guilty until proven innocent Middle Finger
I thought we might have got rid of these nanny state laws but it appears not. I think I was right when I though of Tony Blair when I seen Call Me Dave Rolling Eyes Same shit, different badge Rolling Eyes

There's no way in hell they could put that into force. What about people who have un-roadworthy project cars/bikes that can't be insures?

The version I heard was that you will have to SORN any vehicle if it has no insurance. Which is almost as annoying...

The daily mail article is actually a bit better written to explain the actual new process: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1345434/New-clampdown-uninsured-drivers-Government-vows-tough-reckless-drivers.html
So in both cases it's still recycled news. It's the law that means taxed vehicles must be insured which has been discussed multiple times on here.

Again, it's rather ignoring trying to catch people driving uninsured and certainly ignoring the type most likely to do 'hit and runs' I'd have thought (those who don't have the vehicle registered to them.)

Quote:
"We are working closely with the insurance companies to make it mandatory for vehicles to be insured. There are millions of vehicles on our roads that are not insured.

And I wonder if the department for health and safety is working closely with McDonald's to ensure the public doesn't have to be endangered by eating all that home cooked food that can poison because it's not prepared by qualified food preparation agents?

I have a 'Spare' Ranger-Rover sat in my garden.
I have err... a lot of Little Honda Super-Dreams.....
The component parts of a VF1000
A Montesa Trials Bike.

So they all need to be insured, hugh? Why?
Becouse they MIGHT be used on the road.
OK, define a 'motor-vehicle'....
Now THAT one has no 'motor'.... THAT one has no transmission.... that one has a motor but the frames shot......
Have you found a 'motor-vehicle' that COULD be used on the road yet?

I had this Argument with the Chief Inspector for Nuneaton not long ago..... no.... aparently my 'Garden Orniments' are all 'Motor-Vehicles' becouse they have a number-plate!

I asked him what that made the Montesa, which as a dedicated trials bike, isn't road registered......... or a garden lawn-mower...

The lawn mower actually got a sensible answer... its not got any means of self propulsion, so it's NOT a motor-veichile.....

He did NOT accept that that 'precedent' meant that all the other garden orniments lacking a means of self propulsaion were similarly NOT motor-vehicles!

At SOME point they will have to accept that the SORN laws are useless. They do NOTHING to stop uninsured untaxed drivers, all they do is cost huge head-aches and hassle and civil service time effort and expense, that simply makes life difficult for law abiding folk!

No, they need to be SORN'd at not taxed.

Certainly useless for their claimed purpose; but very good at getting a lot of money in to the DVLA.

It is just being implemented. Don't blame "Call Me Dave" as it is a law dreamt up and brought by the last government.

Still totally useless though.

All the best
