OK guys, am doing CBT tomorrow. Have been riding for over a year on my island cos u don't need a CBT here, but am doing it tomorrow so that I can ride it in town as well.

Wish me luck!

hmm, from what I've heard, it would be harder to mess it up then complete it!

FYI CBT is compulsary Basic Training (not Test). It isn't a test. You cannot fail! Very Happy
I think it's true all training courses will just keep you trying until you reach the standard Thumbs Up

Not strictly true, if the instructor does not think you are up to scratch by the end of the day he will not issue your certificate. This happened to a 16 year old girl when I did my CBT recently. She struggled with the manouvres and was down right dangerous when we got on the road. The instructor escorted her home and told her to come back for extra tuition.

Not true, I take BCF pride of place for failing my CBT three times, before managing to pass on my fourth (despite crashing into the instructor) Laughing - after riding every single day since september, I now consider myself a decent rider, having only binned my bike once (because i was f*cking about with it) funnily enough Laughing

Aaaanyway, yes you can fail your CBT, but so long as you have better balance than a one legged drunk, the chances of you doing so are remote.

and yes that is deserving of a award.

You can NOT fail.

The training does not last a day, it last as long as it takes.

Most people complete it in a day and get their certificate.

If you completed it on your fourth visit, it just means you took four days training to reach the desired standard, not that you failed three times.

Even if your instructor says "sorry you haven't passed", it's probably just cos it's easier to explain it that way.

If you do not pass the standard required on the day of your CBT they call it a 'Referral'.
You usually go back the next day or whenever they can fit you in to brush up on the points you were 'not so hot' at.

When I did mine..there was a 17 yr old lad came in as a Referral from the day before....he had 1-to-1 session with an Instructor...then they issued him a certificate and he could ride home! Thumbs Up

I passed mine by the SKIN OF MY TEETH I think.
I was stalling as I pulled away at traffic lights...due to the pressure I was dropping the clutch a lot Embarassed
The Instructor said he could give me 20 minutes (it was the end of the day) and if I could impress him in that time and pull away at traffice lights each time he would pass me!
Jeez!!

Anyways...needless to say I did it...I concentrated SO hard....I even pulled a wheelie at one set of lights I was revving and trying so hard!! Laughing

At the end of it...if they don't think you can manage solo in traffic they will not let you leave with that paper in hand.

My CBT was one of the most strenuous, nerve-wracking days of my life!! I think it was also the hottest day of the year Wink
