Heya peeps,
just finnaly getting down to the nitty gritty with the dealer about my new R6, as it hasnt been assigned a reg plate yet i wanted to get my own done (one with me name) i was wondering how much money can the dealer take off as he hasnt assigned the plate from the DVLA and i have?
i know when i come to sell it i will have to buy a new plate for it as i wanna keep my private reg,
also the plate: D17WOD (reads my surname of Dawood) would i be able to then later transfer it over to me car, and also will i be able to put it on the bike all as one line, as opposed to it being split after a few letters? i know a lot of peeps have smaller plates and that, but i dont wanna quite do that anyway legally i can have it as one line?
cheers peeps |

Right you can't pick D17 WOD without contacting the DVLA yourself as that is an old registration which may not be available or already registered.
You might be able to purchase this from a third party company at some cost (currently advertised at £594 on newreg.co.uk) and arrange for it to be registered (the £80 fee mentioned in this thread) to your bike at the delivery stage.
You can transfer your plate between bikes and cars at a cost on each occasion (£80). You can also put your plate on rentention (£115) which means you hold the certificate for it for 12mths (after which point its renewed for £25 for a futher 12 mth period)
There is a whole host of information on the DVLAs Personlised Registration Website. https://www.dvla-som.co.uk/home/en/FAQ/
Hope this helps. ____________________ As I said to that guy with the crutches and full camouflage gear, you can hide but you can't run. |

hey thanks for the quick replys
i know about the 80 charge dvla has already informed of this, i was thinking as i have done all the work for the plate the dealer wont have to 'buy' a plate or even put a plate on the bike, as i would have done that. i thought this may save me money as now the dealer isnt having to fork out for the standard number plate i would of got with the bike.
oh also the way D17WOD will read is the 7 will be straight with a black screw in the middle hence readin an A, i know its kinda tartyish but my old man is paying for the plate so its all cool |

I've a cunning plan with my plate. I'm gonna get the plate, after checking it's never been used, then just tell the DVLA that I'm using that plate, I'm quite willing to pay the £250 for it, and that if they don't let me change the docs I'll just keep riding with it
A plate is purely just a way of identifying a vehicle, surely it's not hard for them to just change it. Also, if the Police know it's me, surely there can't be anything wrong with it. ____________________ Back on a Blade. Just feels so right. |
