If it's a new digital display, god knows.
Your issue is the fairing I guess.
If it's the old style they just plug in, then you tighten the nut to secure i place. https://img140.imageshack.us/img140/4408/10016313.jpg ____________________ In Greek mythology Ichor is what immortals have in the place of blood

This is the way I normaly do it:-
Take old one off.
Start at the bottom, pull the inner cable out about 2cm and locate it into the drive. The bottom part of the cable is usualy a fork - look inside the drive and you should see how it slots in.
Screw the outer cable on.
route the cable properly.
Offer the top of the cable to the back of the speedo, you may need to turn the wheel a small amount to get the cable to slot into place.
Screw the outer cable onto the speedo.
Voila
NB: It;s important that the cable is routed properly and has no kinks or tight bends. Sometimes there is a "loop" made out of wire or plastic around the front mudguard area that the cable has to go through to keep it from fouling the wheel.
Also. the top part of the cable is prone to coming loose with vibration so pinch it up slightly with a pair of pliers or grips. NOT TOO TIGHT THO The part it screws onto is sometimes made of plastic and will self destruct if overtightened. |
