1600 is alot, unless you are including Monitors speakers keyboard etc.

Over the past year I have refreshed my rig.

I7 930
Corsair Dominator DRR3 6GB 1600mhz
Corsair HX850W PSU
ASUS P6X58D-E
Saphire HD 6870.
4x500gb WD Black HDD in RAID

If you include the watercooling and case which I recycled from my last build. Also the Monitors and speakers that would probably approach £1600

This is the site I normally use for reviews they do a buyers guide it is a tad out of date but but should give you and idea.

You can get the 580gtx for the price that lists the 480 for.

Next for me is another HD 6870, some 6gb/s hdd's (or solid state drives if the price comes down) and dual 24" LED screens.

I wasn't the clearest earlier due to being in work but the £1600 will not include speakers, monitor, keyboard and mouse as I have all of those. I could build myself but have the habit of my stuff blowing up after a few months of me using it.
Was looking at rough specs of;

Cosmos S case (or antec 1200)
Ati 6970 card
i7 950 cpu + corsair hydro H70 liquid cooling
6gb corsair 1600 ram
120gb SSD
1TB HD

Looking at sites from basically google (gaming pc) and going through them, roughly looking at about £1600 built

All from dabs so with shopping around you could save a bit more. YOu can also reuse CD drives, card readers, WIFI etc.

This comes in under budget and with 6gb/s drives, a very good Mobo and PSU, and faster ram. This will be much better than any PC you get built for you.

Seriously when you are spending this much money don't get one built for you. They might have the parts you listed but will cut costs with RAM/MOBO/PSU/ HDDs

mostly battlefield vietnam and things like that but I'm sick of spending money every 6months and too think what I have spent ver the past 3 years, I may aswell make it semi future proof for a good while.

People buy PC's because they can't build them and lose out, people buy alienware because they have too much money. I had a quick look at there £1700 PC, I can build you a pc better than that for half the cost.

They want to charge you 120 to upgrade from a i7 920 to an i7 930, When I built mine the 930 was about £20 more expensive than the 920 not £120. They also want £140, to upgrade from 1333mhz memory to 1600mhz. You can get the same amount (6gb) of Corsair Dominator GT 1800mhz RAM for £140, and they want to charge that to upgrade from 1333mhz to 1600.

Only idiots would buy one of those PCs.
