Was there a time when duty free was ever cheaper than buying stuff at home? All the alcohol, food and electronics is 2-3 times the price of a regular store. Cheap stuff was what you bought in the foreign country and brought back, not really that great either now since the Euro is so strong.

It depends on where you are going to.

If I give you £5, can you fetch me back a woman Smile

Again, it depends where you go, some places you'd get two for a fiver and change...

So, err, I've heard like...

By duty free, I mean foreign shops.

The Euro being strong surely makes importing cheaper?

No it makes it more expensive, pound buys less euros so therefore buys less abroad. It makes it cheaper for Europeans to buy our stuff. It's not actually been too bad just lately, been sitting at around 1.20 Euros to the pound for a while so as long as you get the best exchange rate on your money you may still find some things are cheaper to buy abroad and bring back, got to check though not just blindly hope.

Rhodes they were selling 200 Lambert & Butler for 30 euro so 3 Euro or at todays euro rate or £2.60 a packet compared to £5.95 we buy them for. And this was expensive apperantly compared to 2009 before Greece VAT went up, they were 2.50 a pack then.

Manchester Airport prices last time i was there (sept 2010) think 200 Lambert were just shy of £40.

Really does show you how much we get arse raped for cigs in this country and everything else.

Booze is cheaper in Rhodes, Big Bottle of Amstel or Mythos 1 euro 90 for a 500 ml bottle or 2 Euro 20 a Pint. Not a Huge difference, but hell of alot cheaper than our bars and pubs.

Was even cheaper buying booze from a shop to.

I always used to treat myself to perfume when coming back through the airport, but not these days...it's MUCH MUCH cheaper to get it from The Perfume Shop, one in most high streets these days. Exclamation
