read this on another forum.
The post is made by some-one fairly reliable.

Quote:

I rode over my old favourite for the first time since early November today.

Remember all the laughs we had about the average speed cameras placed so badly you could ride pretty much the whole route at any old speed and they couldn't do you? Well the powers that be have spent thousands more of taxpayers money and moved their cameras to squeeze every last bit of fun out of this road make it much much safer for everyone.

Going up from the Macc side the first camera has been moved back half a mile or so, so that it is now *after* the B road NSL turn-off that gave everyone an alternative route to the pub and a get out of jail free card for camera generated NIPs.

To add insult to injury they have then added a new camera between that one and the one by the pub, making it much harder to enjoy the route and retain a reasonable average speed.

This will happen to a route near you soon.

Not been for a good few months myself. A few from the North Section are planning a meet...We'll get the BCF lowdown soon enough.

It could become the perfect CG125 v YBR125 showdown.

Unless we switch to road pricing instead, i.e. monitor everybody everywhere all the time.

It used to be a good road before the potholes and the lorries arrived.

The last time i went up there was last year when the cameras were confirmed to be buggered.

About 10:30 am, midweek, there was hardly any traffic. Very Happy

In Nottingham there has been talk of replacing all the normal speed camera's with Average speed ones as they generate more revenue (due to not being able to slam on your brakes before you get to the camera)..

It's getting more and more ridiculous.

I thought the gov said that the war on the motorists was being stopped and that no new speed cameras were to be erected.

Take off your number plate, kick it to 'the man'

Cheaper than a speeding fine even if you do get caught!

*I don't condone this... much

Take your plate off and you risk being done for Perverting the Course of Justice, which is an indictable offence that can carry substantial jail time.

Especially if you've boasted about it on a forum - Plod can and do search forums.

Your risk, your call.

So have SPECS cameras been approved for rear facing use now? I thought they only had approval for oncoming traffic, not passing traffic. In which case, the lack of a front numberplate makes it very difficult for them to catch a motorcycle.

So is the first camera on the other side of the Walker Barn layby now then? Confused

Used to be you could go past the camera, pull in the layby for a few minutes then do the next stretch at whatever speed you wanted......

Incidentally do you know that to date those cameras have not resulted in even one prosecution? Waste of money or what?
