*edit* dont know wtf happened there ill start again !

Today i completed my CBT and booked up my DAS . As a little congratulations present for myself i decided to head on over to hein gericke to get me some boots and a lid .

So i bought a Takai Terror lid (it was cheap and looks good) that i really like . However upon getting it home i read the little sticker on the side of the helmet that tells me that the visor fitted is for daylight use only , it seems it has a very subtle tint to it .

My question is , will i be able to use this during my test ?

Sounds like it will be okay, no where is aloud to sell visors for road use which are not suitable for all the time, you can't even buy tinted visor inserts now. You can buy tinted visors from some places online but they are sold specifically not for road use. If you're in any doubt still would probably be best to ring the shop back and query it with them.

Should be okay, shops aren't allowed to sell 'illegal' tinted visors.

Could just be that they make all the visors in the same mould, which has the 'daytime' stamp on it for when they do the dark ones.

Somewhere on the visor it should be marked BS4110 ZA this is proof that it is UK road legal. The mark is usually at the side somewhere around the pivot point.

As has been correctly pointed out all visors usually come from the same mould so it is a standard marking.

My shoei clear visor also has "for daylight use only"

Upon closer inspection it says "If tinted - Daytime use only"

I believe the visor has to allow a certain percentage of light through to be road legal. I know it's near impossible to buy an illegal visor.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense (long day), but in the words of Cpl. Jones... DON'T Panice Smile

It's not impossible at all, you can order them online from quite a few places like The Visor Shop they're not illegal to buy they're just illegal to use on the roads in the same way race cans and show plate are illegal to use on the roads, lots of people do anyway. Thumbs Up

Hi

You can get very lightly tinted road legal visors.

All the best
