£40 - Market Research for New Bikers

Hello

I'm a researcher that's currently researching the buying experience of new bike owners. We've already conducted most of our interviews but are now looking to interview the last two people.

The research would consist of a very informal 30-45 minute telephone interview which can take place at your convenience from today, Friday 21st until Monday, 24th. You will be paid £40 as a way of a thank you.

The criteria we require are:

- you must have bought a brand new (not used) Motorcycle within the last six months.
- It must not be a honda.
- you must have bought it from a dealership.
- preferably, we are now looking for Custom Motorcycles and Traditional Motorcycles owners.

I totally understand where you're coming from but it's not as boring as you may think It's very informal and can literally be arranged for any time. Most are only running for 30 minutes. It will also include you (if you chose to) to be included in more bike research in the future (we do actually have a lot of online bulletin style groups that run throughout the year).

If you do change your mind please do not hesitate to contact me......I'm toast if I don't manage to complete the research by Saturday!

My only concerns about this is how much personal information one would be expected to divulge to a random company. Would you require;

Registration number?

Copy of V5/proof of ownership?

Just reading through some of the responses:

- you wouldn't need to divulge any person bike info, like reg etc;
- all the interviews are governed by the Market Research Code of Conduct (see https://www.mrs.org.uk/ for more info);
- for the guy who doesn't think it's enough you're being paid too well
- it's definately for real...... we research everything from chocolate to interest rates.... it just so happens we're been asked to research bike purchases this time

Can I offer a completely impartial but professional comment on this? I don't know this guy or his agency, but I have worked with market research agencies before and they have done user interviews in person or over the phone for me and it is quite normal to offer some kind of payment as an incentive (my ASP budget can attest to that!).

As I said, I can not endorse this particular fellow, but I can corroborate the process.

Guys, just a heads up to say thank you for those have completed the screener. I don't know who has completed what (we will send you an email though) but we had around 5 and 1 certainly fills the criteria... 'Triumph, Street Triple R' that fits our 'Traditional' bike type criteria. We've still to arrange an interview with them but until we do we still have the following 'specific' requirements:

- 'traditional' or 'custom' type motorcycles (Non Honda only)
- additionally 'big scooter' (Honda only)

As a further note we did have some others that they did pass the requirements but were not the bike types we required (as seen above). However, please note they we will notify the client of these in the likely even they extend the research to include more of these bike types.

PLEASE NOTE THE MAIN REQUIREMENT (as in the original spec at the start of the page) IS THAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE PURCHASED THE BIKE 'NEW' IN THE 'PAST 6 MONTHS' AND FROM A 'DEALER', AND HAVE TEST DRIVEN IT. THE RESEARCH IS 'ALL' ABOUT YOUR BUYING EXPERIENCE HENCE THESE REQUIREMENTS.

It might be worth noting, that not all members of this forum will use the new biker section...there will be a few members who will have bought brand new bikes which fit your criteria, but whom will post in other sections of the forum.

Check out new bike threads in Bike Chat section and you may find your target audience...basically you need to do a little more research into finding the people you want to answer your questions!!!

We've had to extend the research but I'm not sure how long until, perhaps only today. We're still short of the following:

- new purchasers (max 12 months)
- brought from dealership

of

(1) Honda Big Scooters
(2) Custom Bikes.
