The fun of biking in the winter....

Well what do you expect, it's only January...technically classified as a British winter month. In years gone by, January used to have snow... the fact that we haven't got snow this year is because it's been milder than usual.

(I can't believe you are that long out of school that you don't remember Wink Laughing ) But because I'm kind, here is a refresher...for you:

Winter = December, January, February
Spring = March, April, May
Summer = June, July, August
Autumn = September, October, November

HTH. Thumbs Up

Yes, as helpfully pointed out by Clanger it is the very definition of the 'MIDDLE' of WINTER.

The middle of winter was the 21st Dec 2010.

Quote:
Astronomically, the vernal equinox (usually 20 March in the Northern Hemisphere, should be the middle of spring (based on the angle of the sun and insolation) and the summer solstice (usually 21 June in the Northern Hemisphere should be the middle of summer (because the sun is at its highest), but daytime temperatures lag behind insolation by several weeks because the earth and sea have thermal latency and take time to warm up.

In short, don't wear shorts.

That is the shortest day, nothing to do with the middle of winter.

I have worked outdoors all day in a t-shirt in January. Also witnessed snow in June and hailstones in August.
