Just been testing a new torch that came through the post for me. Have yet to try it in the dark to see how much it lights up, but I had to do the 'shine it in your eyes test.' That was 2 hours ago, and my eyes still hurt Doh!

So, I can heartily recommend the Fenix LD40 - 248 lumens at it's brightest setting (strobe is 278, but that's not a constant beam). Might have to go and shine it at the chavs tonight and see if it can actually blind them... Thinking

I knew a guy who had a laser 'pen' that was the size of a large mag lite, could cut paper and put a very bright dot on the clouds. I still want one, but i'd get myself in trouble...

Did I miss something? LEDs put a tonne of infra red out.

Thats a nice light, especially considering it uses AA cells. Hope you've got some decent rechargeables to go with it.

My personal preference is for either single 123 (Zebralight SC30 lives in my pocket) or big incans.

No point in a good torch if you've not got it when you need it, and if you're going to carry something that big around you might as well make it really fucking bright!

worst i've done akin to the" shine the torch in my eyes test"was accidently firing a new flash whilst looking at it (without a softbox on).

that hurt.

Congratualtions and welcome to the Fuckwit Club! Very Happy

You may not have looked directly into the torch, but it seems as though you forgot the fundamental properties of a mirror.

I had to rate your post "Insightful", clearly a top notch tip on the hazards of operating so many candles.
